Shopify recently introduced some changes in light of the Covid 19 crisis outlined here - https://www.shopify.com/covid19
My question relates to the Gift Card changes that are now being made available to all plans.
Do these new changes apply to Gift Card API as well?
Earlier, the Gift Card API was restricted only for Shopify Plus customers which seems to still be the case here - https://shopify.dev/docs/admin-api/rest/reference/plus/giftcard
To be precise, can merchants on other plans (than plus) also access the Gift Card API?
We had customers who now have access to the Gift Card features due to the news by Shopify and were wondering if it extends to API as well so that we can offer them the reports on those Gift Cards.
Does that help clarify?
Is it possible to get some 'official' reply if the missing gift card API support is intended or not?
For us that run a brick and mortar shop in addition to a Shopify webshop, with full two-way integration of products and orders, we really looked forward to full two-way integration of gift cards as well. Had the API support been there we could program this easily.
In these troubled times anything that makes things easier for merchants and customers is worth pursuing.
So please pretty please add gift card API support!
This is a functionality I also want to +1 on!
Now that all stores have Gift Card access, it would make sense if the Gift Card API can be accessible by everyone (non Shopify Plus stores).
Can we get an official reply if possible?
@roband , did you find an alternative solution?
No, did not find an alternative solution, had to give up on the ways I planned to automate some gift card stuff, no big deal, but weird to have the functionality enabled but not the API.
