No imports for 7 days: Daily variant creation limit reached

Our App has not been able to import a single product into bikes-trikes-and-quads-llc.myshopify.com since April 30th, 2020.  We keep getting this stubborn error.    The store has over 51,000 products.

 

It's a bike store, so bikes are super hot right now.

From the Shopify Documentation linked in the error message (https://shopify.dev/concepts/about-apis/rate-limits#resource-based-rate-limits😞 

The following Admin API resources, in both GraphQL and REST versions, have an additional throttle that takes effect when a store has 50,000 product variants. After this threshold is reached, no more than 1,000 new variants can be created per day.

I can see from our platform logs that your app everyday at 3AM UTC time creates 1000 products + variants for the store of bikes-trikes-and-quads-llc.myshopify.com. Once your app finishes creating 1000 products + variants, since this store is already over 50,000 product variants, Shopify will throttle your app for the rest of the day and prevent your app from creating any more products or variants until tomorrow. That is why you are seeing these errors. To resolve this, ensure your app doesn't create 1000 products + variants at 3AM UTC everyday and use up your limit.

And again, no imports for 5 days.  

 

I understand the throttle but no imports are being allowed at all.  With same error message.  Please address this issue, we cannot create ANY.

And again, this has stopped importing for the past 3 days....

 

Please raise the limit to something it will never reach, thank you!

The only way to have these hard-coded limits increased would be to upgrade the shop to the Shopify Plus plan I believe. Otherwise the monthly timeframe need to expire, at which point it will reset and accrue again based on the variant counts.

shopify clearly states no limits on products directly one their website,  why are we being limited???? https://www.shopify.com/pricing

@btqllc Interesting. Perhaps someone from Shopify can comment as to that being listed. Although technically the limits are on product variants so therein lies the gotcha. lol...

I'm surprised that no one from Shopify's staff has weighed in on this scenario. I can understand reaching the maximum daily variant limit for POST'ed or PUT API calls. But if you can't add any new variants whatsoever for this long of a time...there must be something else going on. @_JB can you possibly assist this user?

We did remove 23,000 products from the store and still no imports....

And still down....it's now been 8 days since we have been able to import a single product into this store.

 

I know with COVID and the Holidays, its like a double whammy, everyone is out.  Still if anyone could attend to this shortly I would appreciate it. Thank you.

This thread might win the 2020 award for longest non-response. And the response errors indicate that you are over the limit? Not an API call rate limit but the variant max? That's crazy...

Yes, over the DAILY Variation Limit. The shop reached about 110,000 products at it's maximum point.
