Which IPAD for my store ?

Hi, I'm not use with the apple products, and I have to buy an Ipad for the cash of my new store opening soon.

It's not a big store, but we will have have around 50 suppliers and maybe 20-50 products by supplyer.

Also I will use the bar code.


I found an iPad Air 2 - 64Gb - Space Grey for 280 $ is it enought ?


Do you think I need better than that ?

An iPad Air 2 should work just fine for using the POS systems! The app requires generation 2 or better, running iOS 9.3 or higher, which the iPad Air 2 should be able to do. That's all the requirements it needs, so you should be good to go. We have full documentation on the requirements for using our Point of Sale systems that you can check over, right here.

Hi there,


Like the other person, I am wondering what Ipad is the best to buy for my shoe store. We would have a large amount of inventory.

I don't want to waste money on a cheaper one only to have to upgrade in a few months. My local tech store said the new Ipad 7th generation should be fast enough. I was just looking at the FAQs and I wonder if it would be enough for all the variants etc.

We have an old but updated ipad Air 2 but there seem to be constant products missing on Shopify POS? We land up processing most items as custom sales.

Any idea why?

All items are checked for being available on POS.

When you say "updated" iPad Air 2, do you mean it has the most recent iOS updates that it can accept, or it has the most recent Shopify POS updates, or both? I recall from awhile back when we tested Shopify POS on the iPads there were some constraints locally caching a lot of products. Thousands and thousands of them could present an issue unless it was a higher-end newer iPad Pro being used. Of course that was before the major Shopify POS update of these iOS devices, so that might have changed...

Thanks Greg. Are you saying Shopify POS has updated to correct these issues? Or the iPad is too old? I have updated IOS and the POS app? So that shld be fine. Thanks for the feedback
