Hello, I am trying to create an offsite payment app extension. However, on my partner portal I do not see any option under the Payment tab. Also I do not see the option when I use the Shopify CLI. What could be the issue?

Hello @prash2023

There could be a few reasons why you are not seeing the option to create an offsite payment app extension on your partner portal or through the Shopify CLI. Here are a few things to check:

  1. Make sure your partner account is registered for the appropriate Shopify plan that allows for creating payment app extensions. You can check your partner account status in the Partner Dashboard under "Partner Account".

  2. Ensure that you have completed the necessary steps to become a payment provider. You will need to fill out an application form and provide all necessary documentation to Shopify. Once your application is approved, you will receive access to the Payment tab in your partner portal.

  3. Double-check that you are using the latest version of the Shopify CLI and that you have installed all required dependencies.

If you have checked these items and are still experiencing issues, you may want to reach out to Shopify Partner Support for further assistance.

Hello, according to Shopify they are currently not accepting payment provider applications, but is on invitation only. Please advise on how I can apply to become a payment provider?

There could be several reasons why you are not seeing the option to create an offsite payment app extension in your Shopify Partner Portal or when using the Shopify CLI. Here are a few possible reasons:

  1. Your Partner account might not have the correct permissions to create offsite payment app extensions. Check with your Partner account administrator to ensure that you have the necessary permissions.

  2. Your Partner account might not be enrolled in the Shopify Payments platform. Offsite payment app extensions require that your Partner account be enrolled in Shopify Payments. To enroll, go to the Shopify Payments section of your Partner Portal and follow the enrollment process.

  3. Your Partner account might not be registered as a Shopify Partner. Only registered Shopify Partners can create offsite payment app extensions. If you have not yet registered as a Shopify Partner, go to the Shopify Partners website and register.

If you have checked these possibilities and are still not seeing the option to create an offsite payment app extension, you may want to contact Shopify Partner support for further assistance.

This is a really bad method. Even though the customers pay for their Shopify account, they can't add their payment gateway using their code. I converted many of my clients from Shopify to WooCommerce or Snipcart because they allow their customers to add their payment gateway using their code. I contacted shopify developer support and they won't help either. They sending this generic pre-formatted answer. I will continue to convert my customers from shopify to other platforms.
