Scalable solution to access the Admin API.

Shopify has a limit on API calls, and we want to use a private app to get/post data on the store while persisting the customers to our own backend database, and vice versa. Im having a hard time imagining a scalable solution with 4 requests/second limit.

Side note: Basically, our backend is the main database, and we keep a profile of every user (which may be created elsewhere) stored and we want to use the app to synchronize back and forth which users already have an account.

I can't be the only Ecom user that needed Shopify to integrate with an existing system on a large scale. Is there any viable solutions to this?
