Using Shopify Bundles Products With Subscriptions

Hey!

I'm trying to use the official Shopify Bundle app to build a product bundle, then use my own custom subscription app to attach a selling plan to it and sell it as a subscription. I can see through the API that I'm able to attach a selling plan group/plan to the the bundle product, and I've attached it at the variant level as well. 

With that said, I cannot add the bundle product to the cart if the selling plan is included. If you try to add it to the cart with a selling plan, it refuses it with '422 unprocessable entity'. It adds to the cart just fine if there's no selling plan. 

So the question: Is it even possible to sell a bundle product with a selling plan, as a subscription?

I've read the docs and I see they don't allow ReCharge and selling plans may cause issues, but I can't see anywhere that explicitly states bundles cannot be sold as subscriptions. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I haven't seen anything about Recharge specifically in the docs so I'm curious what you're looking at. 

Shopify's dev docs on Bundles says that you can't sell bundles with selling plans: 

Bundles can be sold through only the Online Store sales channel. Bundles can’t be sold through Shopify Point of Sale or with selling plans.

Ahh... Thanks for the doc reference, that answers my question.

If you look under eligibility requirements, you'll see you can't have ReCharge installed

This is true, the standalone bundles in Shopify don't work with subscriptions (as of April 2024). However, as an alternative, you could create a bundle with Bundler app, where you dynamically group items together AND then apply the subscription option on these grouped products with a subscriptions app. Bundler has an integration with Seal Subscriptions app, which allows you to do that.

I know this isn't exactly what you were looking to achieve, but it should allow you to get close to it 🙂

@Bundler can we do the same thing if we use Yotpo subscriptions? Or, are you only able to do that with your app and Seal subscription?
