How can I add a clickable telephone number to my website footer?

I would like to add a clickable telephone number for my business on the footer of the website. Please let me know if this is possible and how it is best to do so.

You can follow the instructions below to add a phone number clickable on your footer:

1. On your Shopify admin, navigate to your Theme editor by going to Online store > Themes > Customize
2. Go to your Footer section on the left sidebar, and click Add block > Text
3. Enter the appropriate heading (Contact number or Phone number) and under subheading, enter your business' contact number as text
4. Highlight the phone number and click on the anchor icon to edit the link. Under the link heading, enter your business' contact number again but with tel: before the phone number. If you're wanting to receive international calls, make sure to include the country code onto your phone number, otherwise enter it as is. See image below for reference
5. Click Done, and feel free to test out your link to ensure that it is functioning correctly

Just a note that this clickable phone number feature only works if the customer has their device set up to do so.

Nice to see that you're looking to add a clickable contact number to your store, it'll definitely create a more positive customer experience on your storefront. Is there anything else that you're currently working on your store at the moment? If you're not quite ready to launch yet, I recommend putting a coming soon or password protected page on your store. This will ensure that customers aren't seeing live changes that you're making to your store, to keep your store and brand appear more professional in front of visitors.

My apologies I mentioned "footer" when i actually was meant to mention "header". Please help me add the telephone number to the header of the page.

Creating a clickable phone number on your store's header is a similar process to creating one for your footer. Instead of navigating to your Theme editor however, you'll want to go to Online store > Navigation. From there, you can follow the instructions below:

1. Click on Main menu (or the title of your header menu)
2. Click on Add menu item, and under Name you'll want to input your business' contact number
3. As with my previous instructions for the footer, under the Link heading you'll need to enter your business' contact number again but with tel: before the phone number. Remember to also include the country code onto your phone number if you're wanting to receive international calls
4. Click the green Add button, then Save your menu

To clarify, you'd like to replace the current text that links to your contact number with an icon instead? Similar to how your shopping bag icon links to your cart page, correct?

If this is the case, this sort of customisation would require coding, so you can look into hiring one of our Shopify Experts to help you code a tailored solution onto your store's theme.

The other option is to look at installing a third-party app to your store that would help you achieve this customisation. An app such as this one here will allow you to select an icon to appear next to your menu heading. However to confirm if they can replace the menu heading completely with an icon, you can double check with the app's support team as they're best equipped to confirm the app's functionalities.

I am trying to add a clickable phone number to my footer and this solution does not work as when I try to put in my phone number in the link it expects a https: format and wont accept this solution. Is there another way to make my phone number clickable? Thanks

I realized you can't use any special characters when adding the phone number - numbers only!

I have used your instructions but keep getting this error "Link needs to be a URL address" 

I enter 4162572870 in name and tel:4162572870 in the link field and it does not work.

I attempted the steps again on my own test store and was still able to successfully generate a menu item that links to a phone number. You can review the steps that I took to achieve this via the screen recording here.

instead of that why cant you add your social media handle like (FB, Twitter, Google, etc where your customers can directly message you. if you need this kindly feed me back on it.
