How can I create a request-only product catalog in Shopify?

What is the most effective way to do a product catalog in Shopify? I need the products to exist with title, description, categories and price, but nothing will be available for sale directly online. The customer will need to send a request to purchase and then an order will be created. No cart. Thanks for any advice on this. I did some searching but found nothing useful.

If you have a vintage theme (not Online Store 2.0) try one of the following. Backup your theme first, or test it on a copy in case of issues.

Disable your cart - hide add to cart buttons

Replace “Add to cart” with a contact link

The tutorials that @ShopMagic shared are your best bet if you use a vintage Shopify theme. You can either hide the Add to cart button or replace it with a contact link so customers can send you an email if they're interested in a product, then you can create a draft order for them to complete and pay for their order. You're welcome to follow those tutorials if you're comfortable with coding. Otherwise, you can visit https://bit.ly/3cJkx8V and reach out to our support team to see if it is possible to have this tutorial done by our Theme Support on your vintage Shopify theme. If you decide to contact our support team, please go over the Shopify Design Policy to check if your store is eligible for customization support beforehand. If you're using a vintage third-party theme, you can hire a Shopify Expert to hide or replace the Add to cart button.

 

If you use an Online Store 2.0 Shopify theme or an Online Store 2.0 third-party theme, other than hiring a Shopify Expert, you can install an app to hide the Add to cart button or offer the option to contact you or request a quote. You can check out the following apps:

Hi, I am also looking into this solution. Is there a way that all products still show prices and Add to Cart button? In checkout page, I would need the product added to the cart, total price and form - no shipping or payment required. My main issue at the moment is shipping which I have to calculate manually. Thank you

Your desired checkout workflow is certainly achievable, however, the setup would be different from the solution to the original poster's concern. While it's not possible to remove or disable the shipping and payment pages in the checkout, we can create a workaround to allow customers to place an order without paying for their order and shipping.

 

So customers aren't charged shipping when they go through your checkout, you can simply set up a free shipping rate. You can customize the free shipping rate name, so you can specify that shipping will be charged and calculated later through there. The steps to create a free shipping rate are on this page.'

 

For the payment, you can set up a custom manual payment method as manual payments make it possible for customers to place an order without paying with a credit card. You can enter payment instructions and additional details for manual payment methods, so you can be flexible with how you bill your customers and accept payments for their orders. Whenever you're ready to add the actual shipping rate to the order and accept payments, you may then send them a draft order or use an app, such as Easy Invoice+ to send an updated invoice.

Hi @bigtom_ if you are still looking for a solution for this, I could recommend a new app called Menulog that allows you to build your product catalog layout from the products that you have created in your store. You can display your products info without the Add to Cart buttons and updated in real time. It won't fix the order functionality but it can serve the layout problem for your store. 

App works super easy:
1. Install the Menulog app.
2. Create a new page for your catalog. Add the app block to that page.
3. Select the collection that you want to display for your catolog sections, customize fonts and colors and that is it, it is that easy. You can also include more app blocks for the other sections in your catalog to create a multi section product catalog.
