Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
hi anyone can provide solutions for spam register? My store is still at design with password protect. But these spam still can register over 2000acounts at a time. That's very boring. I have to delete them manually.
Hi!
Take a look at the Shop Protector app. It's a premium app, but there's a 14-day trial.

Thanks for reply. I have installed this app. It seems not workable. The spam bot still create hundreds of account after setting. I have contact shopify support, they said it is problem of theme. Then I contact the theme support, they ask me to contact shopify support. Can't believe shopify not provide a solution of it. I think many user have same problem.
these spam are creating 1500 accounts. Shopify said it has nothing to do with them and not give a solution.
Just in case, take a look at the Online Store >Preference > Spam Protection. Make sure both options are enabled.
hi, thanks for your reply. I enable everything even add the shop protector app to protect. But it has no use. The spam bot still keep creating account. They don't register from account page form. The shop protector monitor 4 register which register by me to test. But they don't monitor these 1500 spam account. So the bot don't use account page to register.
when I disable the customer account at checkout. the bot will top. And when I choose otpional or required, the bot will start creating spam account soon. Feel so helpless. Can't believe shopify not provide a solution for this big problem.
I have the same exact issue. When I asked Shopify support how accounts are getting created (despite my site not having any signup forms) and how can I stop it, they said:
Essentially how this can happen is Shopify has an open API on the storefront that allows for the creation of customers to support functions like newsletter signups. It's fully intended to work this way, however the way it works has allowed bots to create customer accounts.
Shopify Developers are aware of this and are working on a means of preventing these bot signups.
Sadly this response (a) make no sense and (b) is not a solution to the problem.
It makes sense - if anything I'm surprised they were that honest - but doesn't help you solve the problem. Basically it sounds like they made a way to programmatically sign up for an account with any given shop using their API (which is a feature) But they didnt do a good job anticipating how it might be misused.
