Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Hi,
I've been trying to post a few blogs that built on shogun but every time I set them live it comes up with this message: "Liquid error: Error in tag 'section' - 'article-template' is not a valid section type" on the live page.
Can someone please help with this?
- Joelle
Hey, @JoelleARB
This error is due to the file article-template.liquid not being found in your theme. Not sure if you have done any modifications to your theme files but it looks like it may have been deleted or there is a misspelling on the file name.
Shopify knows that errors are just human nature, so we have provided a way to undo changes made to a code file in your theme over time. Rather than trying to re-implement your product code, my first suggestion is to try rolling back your .liquid files individually to a time and date before you made the changes.
From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Find the theme you want to edit, and then click Actions > Edit code.
Click on one of the files under the relevant folder in which you want to undo changes (Sections > article-template.liquid).
Click Older versions next to the file name
If you remember when you made the changes, you can return to the state of the file before your changes. Finally, don't forget to hit that green save button!
Here is another tutorial where a Shopify Expert has provided a solution to solve similar liquid errors.
Although the method applied here is effective in undoing your changes, the best way to protect yourself is to always back up your theme before making any changes.

Hello,
Thank you for your help
I've reset the blog to the original version and it is still showing up with the same error? Is there someone I could get in touch with more about this issue
Joelle
