Google Dynamic Retargeting Setup - Avoiding Duplicate Data

Hello.

I had previously installed google dynamic retargeting code into the theme file following Google's guides here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhA9o4spsiQ

However, I have since found out that this has caused duplication of conversion purchase events and conversion value, meaning my results are reporting double. 

Shopify had warned that this can happen if you edit your theme code, as having the Google Sales Channel automatically ads conversion events. 

Google however have checked all of my code, and assured me that the dynamic retargeting code wouldn't interfere with conversions, but it has.

My question is, how do I implement google dynamic retargeting, without causing duplication of data?
