Debut theme. Brand new store, still offline.
As far as I can tell I have done all of the steps in creating the API key. I paste it into the Map section of the Debut theme and get that message in the body of the web page. It's a good address, Google can find it, but not using this method.
Thanks in advance

A Shopify tech and I spent an hour and could not solve it. A ticket to Google got a response and showed the answer.
When setting up the Google cloud account, you must enable the maps javascript API AND the Geocoding API (that's what looks up the address). The API was getting requests but would not respond. The Google tech could see that and let me know. Enable Geocoding, works now.
Either I misconfigured the APIs when I started the google account (very possible) or the Shopify documentation left that detail out.
Thanks for reading!
Without seeing it live or getting more insights into what is being sent to google it will be hard to offer much help. Are you able to share a link to the page with the map?
I started a test page not linked to my paid account, and same results.
the theme is pretty simple. I think it is a Google configuration issue, but I have done everything I am supposed to do. I have tried to add a service account to the Google but it's not working. for what it's worth the info I got from Google is:
API key: ** removed **
viewer access to the API account: traditionalartstoday@rising-hallway-234719.iam.gserviceaccount.com
I don't know how to use that.
I have tried searching for the phrase "Error looking up that address" and have not had any good luck finding others with this problem.
I also can't figure out a way to add a Shopify staff account to the account without having an email address for the account holder, so I can't give you that without your email.
I am at a loss. any other ideas about what to do or where to look for answers?
thanks

This helped me, thank you! Shopify: Please add this to your documentation!
Hi everyone,
Nick here from Shopify.
Thanks for the update @edk. Great to hear you got it sorted out and thanks for providing how you got there. @Weblius I'll be sure to let the help document team know about this also.

Hi,
Even after enabling Geocoging API and Java Script API, my map still cannot load. Is there a way to solve it?
Thanks,
Maria
Hi @mariagogoleva,
I spoke to our theme support team about this. They mentioned that even though you have already entered an API key, you will have to regenerate a new one in order to potentially fix this issue. As this involves access to your own private Google account, it is not something that we can do for you, however, there are some steps you need to take for this. Let's take a look at them below:
1. You will need to generate the API key from here.
2. Select Get A Key.
3. Select or create a project (ie Maps) and then select Enable API (this will not enable until a project is selected)
4. Then copy the API key by selecting the copy button
5. Paste this key into the Maps section and select Save
6. Have the key unrestricted to make sure it works
It is important to view the storefront itself as the theme editor may not show the same information. Currently, the theme editor shows the map but viewing on the storefront shows an error
Can you try this and let me know if it works for you please?

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your information! Unfortunately, it still doesn't work for me.
It is important to view the storefront itself as the theme editor may not show the same information. Currently, the theme editor shows the map but viewing on the storefront shows an error - what do you mean by that?
After generating a new API key, Shopify still cannot locate my store. It is a big issue because it is affecting our shipping rates. Please let me know how can I fix it. The link to my store is shop.quantumebikes.com.
Thanks,
Maria Gogoleva
This is a big issue
Did you ever get this issue resolved?
I'm experiencing the same problem and the above solutions didn't work for me either.
Hi Andrew,
No, Shopify blamed Google on the issue, although I have checked and everything is okay with my address showing on Google. The issue has never been resolved.
Thanks,
Maria
Hi @mariagogoleva & @Andrew_Doan,
Shopify presents this error when the shipping from field does not match what the postal service has on file. You would get the error "Your store's shipping address couldn't be verified" when the physical address they have entered in Settings > Shipping into the Shipping from field does not match the information in Google and should look something along the lines of the screenshot below:
My guess would be the app is not verified or that there is something very small off with it, as simple as the postal code or one letter being lower or upper case, this is something which Shopify doesn't control and thus can't action a fix for. I spoke to our higher technical team who suggested to report the error to Google directly via the link here. Hopefully this works.

Pefect I was able to solve this problem with this 🙂
Nice, thank you mate
Thanks for the advice - this helped me as well!
Thank you for sharing!! I was racking my brain guessing and resubmitting for new api requests thinking it was me doing it wrong. BIG HELP THANKYOU!
In particular, you need to enable the Geocoding API. This API is what converts and address into a geolocation.
I am having this issue and I have done everything that has been suggested ...and I am still getting the same error
Hi @Kalti,
Just to confirm if you have generated a new Google Maps key for this? If you haven't that could be the problem. Could you follow the steps in the help guide for Registering a Google Maps API Key here and then let me know if that works for you please?

Hello Kalti,
I had a similar issue. After going through every single page, I discovered on Shopify's instructions to make sure you have your billing account linked with Google Service. This will still be under a trial basis and won't take money out of your account until you manually upgrade to this. Your account will have a $300 trial credit to use. Hope this works for you as it did for me.
I am still having similar problems. I have created new api keys, new profile and new api key's. I have both javascript map and geocodng apis enabled and added api key several different times. Every time it does not work and it does feel like a Shopify issue because if I click the Get Directions it opens and locates absolutely fine in Google Maps. Spent hours on this and getting exasperated.
Hello @opalepatrick,
I suggest you try the advice given above by @iamnotkiran. This is my personal account.
I had a similar issue and tried everything until I found the advice by shopify as their tips. By simply registering a card in payment / billing, not necessarily paying for anything solved this issue for me. Hope this helps.
I should have emntioned that I already have apyment with credit card set up.
OK, that actually did solve it. I misunderstood where you were talking about and as I had an account with Google already for api's that it had connected. So once I set up payment for the free api, it all worked. Thank you.
How to I set up payment for the API address? I am also trying to resolve this error issue. Thank you.
Thank you for that solution. It works for me now.
