I had to cancel my bank card transactions because of several fraudulent charges from my bank account, In error I cancelled her charges for her e-book, which was $50.80 or something in that ball park. The heading of her e-mail from her Legal team, "Notice of unauthorized chargebacks and e-book usage, theft charges to be filed". She also told me you are charging her fees. She won't tell me the fee(s). How can I find out what she is being charged so  I could correct this.

Thank you

I do at least know the ballpark for chargeback fees is normally around $15 to $17 bucks.

Here is a template you can use to respond. The main thing would to be to avoid any legal charges.

Subject: Clarification and Resolution of Unauthorized Chargebacks

Dear [Recipient's Name],

I hope this message finds you well. I recently had to address several fraudulent charges on my bank account, which led to unintended cancellations, including the charge for your e-book. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I received your email from your legal team regarding the "Notice of unauthorized chargebacks and e-book usage, theft charges to be filed," and I am committed to resolving this matter promptly. I understand the seriousness of the situation and am eager to correct any unintended errors.

Could you kindly provide me with details regarding the fees associated with the chargebacks? I want to make sure I rectify the situation appropriately and cover any fees incurred. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Once I have the necessary information, I will take immediate steps to address the issue and ensure that you are not unfairly affected. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and I am dedicated to resolving this matter to your satisfaction.

Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]

Thank you, I did that, not verbatim, How many fees do you charge, and is it daily? Where do I need to send a chargeback letter on her account in Shopify? I have sent several messages to her and even offered to ZELLE her the money, she's been uncooperative. I don't believe she wants to resolve this, but to make me a scape goat for others that have scammed her, or maybe she wants to ruin some ones/my reputation, I have no clue. I made an honest error, I have apologized and want to rectify this. I had to change my card, which is attached to my bank account, three times this month for fraudulent charges, but I am not going to continue to be harassed, by the comments she made about who she knows and showing the area where she lives. I am retired, in school and on a fixed income looking to supplement my income. I have worked 50 years of my life and have written several business letters to collect money, so I understand professional letters when I see them and that wasn't.  This was the only e-mail to me, in the subject line in an e-mail sets the precedence to the rest of the communication, it was unprofessional and threatening. I spoke to my bank and they were disturbed by the e-mail she sent me and the idea of defamation of character/libel came to mind. I have also forwarded the message to others for feedback.

Chargeback fees only happen once. They are from the bank. The total amount owed to her would be around $65. People that actually have lawyers to sue someone, typically wouldn't do it over this amount, but also would have the lawyer draft the letter. It is pretty uncommon for the seller to send anything regarding threats. You offered to pay the money back and that is really the extent of all you can do. You made your attempt, I highly highly doubt she will come back at you. If she did, she doesn't have much of a case. Either way it would be for very little money. She would spend for time and money trying to fight it.

Do I need to send something to you, to clear the chargeback on Shopify's end regarding her, because she made a comment about it not being fair, that she has to pay for fees because I am unable to pay until Jan 1st. I want to be done with this ASAP. If I don't hear from her, I will get my bank to send a  total of $65.00.

Thank you!

I don't work for Shopify. We are all just volunteers on here helping the community. She only has to pay a fee if the bank found the chargeback in your favor. The entire case at that point would be closed out. If the case is still going on you can contact your bank about the mistake and see if they can take off the chargeback. Shopify doesn't actually charge fees for chargebacks, it would be your payment institution. Shopify is just a middle man relaying information to her.
