How can I display price per kilogram for food products in Europe?

In Europe there's an obligation to show the price of food products per unit and per kilogram. We have variants, what's the way to do this and show € 5,95 (€ 115,00 per kg), only on the product page where it shows the unit price after clicking the preferred variant. This means, only for the purpose of showing customers the consequences of choosing a smaller of bigger unit. As it is not a default feature in Shopify, I fear it needs some manual changes ?

@depeperwinkel You can create two variant one for the per unit and another for the per kilogram for the product and add the price of variant according them price.

That isn't the solution. A glass with 60 grams of a certain product has an other price than the 60 gram refill for instance, because of differences in packaging and handling, as handling for a bag of 1000 grams is significantly cheaper (per kilogram) than the handling of ten bags of 100 grams. That's why calculation should be the other way round, not from 1 kilogram to whatever other weight, but from pre-packed glasses or pouches in our case into per kilogram. As I say, difference in price per kilo differs a lot between small pouches and large ones and between glass and the pouches we use. Simply adding a variant won't work 🙂

This is the shipping weight, enabling to calculate shipping tariffs, for instance that a glass jar containing 60 grams of a product actually weighs 170 grams. Cannot be used as a kilogram-price for a unit. Giving an example, we sell a pouch containing 500 grams of a certain spice for € 52,10 (being 104,20 per kilogram), in a glass jar containing 60 grams for € 8,35 (being 139,15 per kilogram). Those figures we need to show for each of the average 6 variants per product (spice).
Would be glad if we could add the kg price manually for each variant, even better if there was an opportunity to manually add content-weight per variant, so kilogram-price is can be automatically calculated inside Shopify and errors will be avoided, if prices go up (or down).

@depeperwinkel  as you said that container weight also included at the shipping time . but at the selling time we should consider only the weight of the product (We need to exclude the container price) which we need to be sale & at the  time of the shipping we can include the price of the container on which product packed. So , for the all product we can set the price according to kg or other measurable unit .And here we can add the price of the variant manually.

When you say Europe, are you selling in France by any chance? Shopify seems to support displaying price per unit for that region: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/intro-to-shopify/initial-setup/sell-in-france/price-per-unit

We sell worldwide, especially throughout Europe, where the kilogram rule counts. Didn't read this particular as possible solution., Will contact Shopify on this and report on the outcome in this topic. Might be what I am looking for 🙂
