How can I set up a redemption voucher landing page with free shipping?

Hello all, 

I am working with a partner and we are providing 300 promo codes for their customers to redeem a free gift on our website with no minimum spent. How can I set it up so that:

1. User enters promo code to receive a specific item in my store. 

2. The specific item is added into the cart at zero value

3. The user is brought into the checkout page and checks out with no shipping fee. 

Is this possible? Do I need some apps to achieve this? We are beginners and have no webmaster.
