Hello,

How do I auto-renew my domain?  I went to settings - domain and there's no way to do it in there.  Thanks.

Hi Mac,

So, it all started because I had all these fetching errors and my domain needed to be transferred.   I did the chat in the Help Center like you said and the 1st  support guy kept telling me that I must've purchased my domain from a third-party and I had to contact them to try to transfer it to Shopify.  I kept telling him that I purchased it from Shopify but Shopify didn't have any record; so that was really frustrating to hear.   The 2nd support guy was not stuck on third-party and really tried to figure it out.  So, what happened is that I purchased the domain from Shopify and closed the store bec. I was moving.  When I opened up the store again this year, I used a DIFFERENT E-MAIL and so the old billing info didn't connect with the new one and that's why they  couldn't see past purchases.  He needed the 9 digit invoice number when I purchased the domain.  Luckily, I had it on my credit card statement and that's how it showed the other email.   Now, he was able to fix the connection and auto-pay but I still have 48 hrs for it to fully go through since I just did it today but I could see some changes online.  Hopefully, this is it cause I can't wait to build my site.  Thanks again, Mac!

Hi, @smicepy!
Thanks for reaching out in our Community Forums and for sharing your concern, I’d be happy to help.

If you are using a Shopify-managed domain, then you should be able to enable automatic renewal by following the steps below:

  1.  Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.

  2. Click the domain that you want to configure.

  3. In the Auto-renew section, select Auto-renew this domain every year.

Your domain renewal is charged automatically on the date listed. To ensure that your domain subscription is successful, the renewal date is 14 days before the end of the registration period. Domain renewals are charged separately from your monthly subscription charges.

We’d also be happy to continue assisting you through the available contact methods in our Help Center.  If you see the chat assistant, you can ask to contact support and it'll guide you with your next steps on how to connect with a team member. Once you get in touch with support, we will be able to take a closer look.

Let me know how that goes!

Hi Mac,

I went exactly where you said to go but there is no “auto renew” and my site is managed by shopify.  Could it be because my site is not connecting properly? I’m also having a hard time connecting it right,  It keeps saying “not connected” and “needs attention”.

Hi again, @smicepy!

Thanks for the update.

It could be possible that the option isn't showing up as your domain is not connected properly. It may be a good idea to reset your domain's DNS settings as this will ensure that your domain is pointed to Shopify. Please note that changes to your DNS settings can take up to 24 hours to take effect.

If you are still having issues, be sure to reach out to our team through the  Help Center.  If you see the chat assistant, you can ask to contact support and it'll guide you with your next steps on how to connect with a team member

All the best!

When I go into SETTINGS > DOMAINS, there is NO EDIT DNS SETTINGS or ADVANCED SETTINGS or ways to AUTO PAY MY SITE or CONNECT MY WEBSITE, etc.   Seems like alot of these sections are missing so it's really frustrating.

I do appreciate all your assistance, Mac.  I'll try and get help at the Help Center like you suggested.  Will let you know what happens.  Thanks again.

Hi again, @smicepy!

That's very interesting. I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. It is possible that your domain has already expired or is not hosted by Shopify. However, I cannot say that for certain so I'm happy to hear that you are getting in touch via our Help Center.
