All things Shopify and commerce
So I created a new store on the weekend and now I am getting lots of people from Nigeria contacting me from the contact page about improving my site. Question is how did these people find my store and even know it existed being as its brand new?
Thanks.

Hi, @mattharkins!
I answered a similar question here. It sounds like these might be spam messages generated by an auto-submission bot. It isn't clear where these are coming from, but I recommend trying a third-party app like these ones to help reduce spam:
If any of the emails were particularly concerning, you can forward them along with the email headers to safety@shopify.com. There should be no threat to the security of your account provided you didn't respond to the emails or click on any links they included.

This hasn't been solved yet - there should be an option to block a region.
Thank you for sharing your feedback!
You can use Google ReCAPTCHA on your store to help block spam coming through the contact form. Alternatively, there are third-party apps like those mentioned above in this thread that can offer more control over who can visit and interact with your store.
In the meantime, I have submitted a feature request to our developers on your behalf.
