All things Shopify and commerce
Hi, this may be a silly question, but I can't find this anywhere. I just want to create a field in Shopify Analytics called Gross Sales Less Discount (GSLD) that is simply (Gross Sales) - (Discounts), so I don't have to keep exporting data and doing this manually. Is this possible?
Hi @RichL2 ,
there's actually a pre-made report just like that (if I understand you correctly).
If you're on Shopify Advanced or Plus, simple go to Reports and search for the sales/revenue after discounts report.
Hope that helps!
Net sales is actually Gross - Discounts - Returns. So if you ran a sales report excluding returns it would return the number you're looking for.
Technically net sales should be gross sales - discounts - returns - taxes, so not sure if the net sales report will do the trick here.
Gross sales doesn't include taxes unless they're in a region where taxes are included in the price of the product.
Hi @RichL2 , if you find yourself limited by Shopify Analytics. You can try out Polar Analytics which has a dedicated Custom Metrics function. This can be done by anyone, without any SQL skills.
Here is how it looks:

Hi, I'm Nati from the team at BeProfit (profit analysis for Shopify).
This would be possible with BeProfit, in addition to our dedicated Discounts analytics page which really gives you insights into discount performance, including sales , gross profits & margins, and more.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Nati
