I'm trying to edit the meta data for individual variants with a url like this:
https://SHOPNAME.myshopify.com/admin/bulk?resource_name=Product&edit=metafields.global.edition:strin...
As you can see from the image below, the variant meta fields don't seem to be editable but I've seen in other posts that people have been displaying Variant meta data in their stores so there must be a way to edit this. Maybe I have the url format wrong?
Never mind, found the solution:
https://SHOPNAME.myshopify.com/admin/bulk?resource_name=ProductVariant&show= image,full_title,variants&edit=metafields.global.edition_quantity:string
Hi,
Check Free Inventory Management Software and get to create products with multiple variants with a theme based generation
Thanks for that.
Do you know if those extra fields such as full_title are documented anywhere?
I don't think so — the bulk editor is pretty poorly documented from what I've seen : (
Metafield editing via the bulk editor is not officially supported. Whilst there's the blog post that unlocks the cool feature you shouldn't be expecting official documentation on it at this stage.
I see.
I hope it becomes official. I just stumbled on the blog post and this is pretty awesome!
Thanks. How did you discover this?? 😕
I couldn't upvote this little URL enough. WOW!
Another neat way to do this is to use Airtable to manage your metafields, across all Shopify objects that support them (product, variants, customers, etc.). Take a look at how to bulk edit Shopify metafields this way.
This is incredibly useful. Thanks for this update.
Does anyone know how to limit the selection for products ?
If I use "bulk?resource_name=ProductVariant", I'm not able to use "&ids=11836785594%2C11837292055" to only see the desired products.
"&ids=11836785594%2C11837292055" will only work with "bulk?resource_name=Product"
That's the only thing we miss to be able to really makes variant metafields easy to manage!
Found out a neat tool online that can help to quickly generate your meatfield bulk editor url (including select menu which can be a pain to do manually). I place such links right inside Shopify sections that needs metafields, this way the user can access everything from one place, quite handy.
You can find the tool on this Shopify partner website: https://madeforcode.com/pages/shopify-metafield-build-editor
At this time I'm trying to figure if I can show images of Article metafields in front of article titles (such as for products). I tried `&show=image` but without success, not sure it's possible.
Does anyone know how to sort? In this example, I'm trying to sort by Title.
@Chrishau5 We’ve been successful by adding the sort parameter, formatted like this:
&order=full_title+asc
Let me know if that helps!
Is there any way to filter using some sort of short parameter?
