All things Shopify and commerce
Hi, I am creating a Product Description Page using the Bundles Shopify app.
I can see that I only get 3 items maximum for the bundle on the product page, whereas the app states it can support up to 10 components. This is because it's using the standard variant picker.
Is there an example of an app block with bundle variant picker functionality (>3 bundle components, matching the Bundles app) already available anywhere, before I write my own?
I have tried the Bundles Example App but this gives me a blank app block.
Thanks!
Hi @johnldt,
Can you provide details about the specific features and setup you're seeking in the bundle apps? This information will help me recommend an appropriate solution 😊.
Sure. Essentially, all I want to see on the product page, is exactly what I see in the Bundles app display. So where there's 3 configurable products and 2 'other' products (without options), I just want to view all 5 products on the page. I need a bundle variant picker app section, no more, no less. Kinda useless to offer bundles that hide half of the items, don't you think 😄
Currently I've worked around this with a product list metafield - reselecting the non-configurable products back manually, then capturing this and rendering them to the page under the max 3 options.
As you can probably see, this is far from ideal. Especially as the app claims to be able to handle 10 products - but will only show 3 of them!
About those 3 configurable products, how many options like Size or Color do they have?
Luckily for me, 1 option each - for all 3 of them 🙂
I'm actually in the process of building a stripped back Remix app to do the bundling properly, as per the Shopify documentation - I've abandoned the Shopify app. It doesn't adhere to the documentation it claims to align with (it's a fake bundle, essentially).
I'll still need to work around it though on the frontend, if we're to avoid those limitations.
If you're looking to create a bundle comprising more than 3 products, with each product having only 1 option, Easify Product Options app can be a valuable tool. It simplifies the process of setting up such bundles by offering the "add-on product" feature, which enables you to include an unlimited number of products within the bundle. The key requirement is that each individual product should possess no more than 1 option (though it can have numerous variants).
Shopify itself advocates the use of product options apps to transcend the limits of three options and 100 variants per product.
