Invalid Certificate problem - Cloudflare

I am getting a security warning when visitors are trying to access my website using https://www.<mydomain>.com. When accessing it directly with https://<mydomain>.com or www.<mydomain>.com is working fine. Shopify support said that it was an old issue with Cloudflare from when I was hosting a WordPress site with my hosting company and I should contact my hosting company (also my third party domain provider).

My website link is generated from Tresstle events page, so I can't change it, but if this isn't fixed visitors will get this safety warning.

I have been going back and forth between my hosting company and Shopify support. Just to reiterate, my domain was never hosted on Cloudflare. I spoke to my hosting company and they do not use Cloudflare servers/services. When I delve into the details of the error it gives these certificate details, that clearly show that Cloudflare is used by Shopify (see screenshot). This is confirmed by a statement made by Cloudflare: "Cloudflare partners with Shopify to provide all Shopify merchant websites with Cloudflare’s performance and security benefits. "

The error is:

https://www.<mydomain>.com/
Unable to communicate securely with peer: requested domain name does not match the server’s certificate.
HTTP Strict Transport Security: false
HTTP Public Key Pinning: false

It seem that this certificate became valid from Mon, 13 Sep 2021 00:00:00 GMT.

Anyone else having this problem. Did re-provisioning SSL correct the issue?

Thanks for your help

Kind regards

Bea

UPDATE

When using the SSL checker as suggested by Shopify support it shows that at the Server details mydomain.com is correctly listed. However, it does not list www.mydomain.com.

Their support is still insisting that there are issues with my DNS records, but my hosting provider have confirmed this is not the case.

Addendum:

It got eventually sorted by Shopify. I was on chat with one of their agents who asked me why I would want to type in https://www.mydomain.com anyway. His solution was for me to just not use it, irrespective of the fact that I explained a few times that  Tresstle.com automatically changes a www. URL to https://www. Also pointed out that the url at issue had been working fine in the past.

His next move was to say that my MX records were at fault. I already explained a few times that I was using a third-party domain. I explained that MX (mail) records had nothing to do with it and asked him to explain why he thought this was the issue. I was abruptly cut off and connected with another agent who provided a fix within minutes.

Hallelujah, only spent 6+ hours trying to get it fixed between domain provider and Shopify support.

I'm going through almost the EXACT same thing, currently.

Any chance you know what the fix was or who the agent that performed the fix was?

Hi,

Yes, go to your Admin panel -> domains -> select "connect existing domain" on the top right corner and take it from there. This fixed it immediately. Even though a previous agent had said she reprovisioned the domain for me.

Good luck!

Ah, already tried disconnecting and reconnecting the domain. Oh well, was worth a shot. Thanks for the quick response!

In that case maybe ask in chat for Connor C. Hope he can provide a fix for you too.
