Would also love to know anyone using the wise pad 3 and if there are any issues with it.

Endless issues with this device - yes have been using this in my B&M store for 6 months and its been a punish. But we don't have other cost-effective options at this point, hoping that shopify has a plan for this. because most everything else they do is great

I'd also like to hear about Wisepad users in Australia. I have not come across anyone using them at markets or in stores. They are all Square.

yes, because square is more reliable and prettier. HAHAHAHA we used to run square as our POS and it was great, its just not great for high inventory businesses. Their POS hardware and systems tho are more user-friendly and they NEVER had any issues. Don't get me wrong, Shopify is great too, its just that this reader really requires an upgrade. And because you HAVE to use it or you pay extra % per transaction, I wonder if Shopify has any benefit to improve it

So glad you replied. I agree it is not at all pretty. And I got suspicious as when I looked online for reviews and users in Australia not a lot comes up. I see in the USA and Britain they have a new sleek version not yet available here. Maybe they will bring this out to Australia once they have dumped all the old model stock on us.

I have an online Shopify store but I was planning to use it at markets/workshops - what would you say are the main problems?

ahhhhh thats interesting. And my assuption is they will bring it here, square did the same with their new POS, its just better to release to their markets before getting to us. But that's great news that a new one is out. What is the name by chance.

As for you your markets/workshops. I think you will be fine using the existing one for now. Its main issue is that it runs out of battery very fast - recommend plugging in. And it needs to be very close to the Ipad that it is connected (Bluetooth) too ( this can also be because of the iPad also.)
If you do use another payment system, the issues you will have are: inventory syncing with your shopify - mostly you have to do this manually AND having to pay extra fees per transaction (charged for using any other payment gateway that isn't stripe.)

In summation: its cheaper to use, but needs to be close and plugged in to work properly

This is the US site, looks like the UK still only has Wisepad.

Im am now in receipt of my 3rd Wisepad 3 reader! First on within 4 months just died. The second one on the day I was to use it came up with "Tampered......" and shut down. The 3rd one now is having connectivity issues, I am not a first timer at this and really is frustrating that 1) Only one option, no choice. 2) Cant use square which I never get an issue with. I am not sure of the legalities with "Restriction of Trade" due to the lack of saturation Shopify has in Australia compared to the US. Its a legislation that caught Apple off guard and fined many years ago. In my opinion Shopify should, must offer us at least one other alternative.
