All things Shopify and commerce
Hi Team!
When trying to publish products to our google sales channel it doesn't get approved because "Gtin is required for this product."
Even after inputting a barcode in the text box for "Barcode (ISBN, UPC, GTIN, etc.)", the product still doesn't get approved for our google sales channel.
One of the products this happens to is :
Any reason why?
Thanks in advance! 🙂
Regards,
Boni

This is an accepted solution.
Supplement products require to follow a lot more scrutiny compared to non medical/healthcare/supplement products.
Meaning the whole website is checked, make sure you have no claims and statements on your products, even for products you don't list on Google Shopping.
Make sure your barcodes are real, from the packaging or manufacturer and you have added the brand value.
Double check Google has received the data in Google Merchant Center > products > all products > click on the product > scroll to the bottom > final attributes.
Hello Boni!
Common unique product identifiers include Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs), Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPNs), and brand names. Not all products have unique product identifiers. However, if your product does have one, especially a GTIN, providing it can help make your ads and listings richer and easier for users to find. If your product doesn’t have a UPI, you’ll tell us so in your product data.
May be you are missing out the exact format thats why its not approving
I am here to help can reach out to me to solve this issue
Thanks

Can you help me solve this problem?
If you have barcodes, and you have submitted them and you are using the free app, then you need to set the custom products value to false by going to Shopify > sales channel > google > manage availability.

If you don't have barcodes, then you need to use feed rules to remove data. Official guide: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7450276?hl=en
My guide (view the video): https://feedarmy.com/kb/fix-incorrect-product-identifier-mpn-in-google-merchant-center/
This GTIN issue has been a real problem for me. I sell a lot of vintage stuff that still has barcodes from the late 90's, for example, and I have checked and rechecked the UPC for these products. Even though I am 100% certain they are correct, I still get the "GTIN required" message.
Also, I have noticed (similarly) that some manufacturers apparently re-issue old UPC's (probably after X-number of years have passed) and assign them to a new product. I went through this on Amazon and had items rejected even though I had the original tag and barcode on the item(s). I think Twins/47 Brand was one of these, FWIW.
Any ideas?
If products have not barcodes, then do not submit, brand, mpn and of course no GTIN values, and set identifier exists.
You can follow my guide in the previous post on how to do this step by step.
How do you do this?
Solution1,
"If your product doesn't have a UPI, you'll tell us so in your product data"... How is this done?
My products do not have GTIN's and this is a constant issue with Google flagging it. Thanks!!
Google uses it's own data from other merchants and 3rd party sources to verify product information.

Hello,
I have a question to this problem. I did as you proposed and the products are listed on Google Merchant Center and they are active. But its says on my Shopify Backend that the majority of my products are not active and that I should add GTIN's to each product.
Our shop is in Germany and we use EAN-codes here and I add them to each product but Shopify doesn't accept it. Is there a bug on Shopify because on Google Merchant Center they are active?
Kind regards,
I recommend using Google Merchant Center, to read and check issues in the diagnostics panel. Don't use Shopify as Shopify in this case is 3rd party.
