Re: Payment Issue Jersey Channel Islands

Why is Braintree not accepting debit card payments in Jersey Channel Islands?

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a payment method to my shop and the only one available to my country is Braintree. After setting it up however, it is not accepting Debit Card payments. I feel like I hit a brick wall here and been trying to find a solution for the last 3 days with no luck. I am currently situated in Jersey Channel Islands.

Hi, @Magnoliker.

For more help with this it's best to speak to Braintree directly as they will have the most information on their payment gateway to be able to help further. You may also want to review other payment gateways or payment providers you can use in Jersey Channel Islands. If you type 'Jersey' into this page you can find a list of payment gateways available in your region that you can use with Shopify.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @Erin ,

Thank you for your Reply. I have contacted Braintree but still waiting for a reply. In the meantime I am trying to set up 2 Advanced Credit/Debit - UseePay. It is however asking me for a Merchant ID which i cannot find in my Shopify options. The Shopify bot keeps sending me here:

To find your Shopify merchant ID, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Markets in your Shopify admin.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Your merchant ID is in the Order fulfillment section.

More info in the GUID documentation.

But i have no order fullfilment section. Order fulfillment section.

Great question!

The merchant ID is not something that can be found in your Shopify admin. Instead, it must be obtained directly from the Support team. They will be able to provide you with your merchant ID after verifying your identity and ensuring that you are the owner of the store.

To get in touch with support, the chat assistant will guide you to select a store for authentication purposes, however if you still can't locate your store you can reply to the chat with I still need help. From there, wait until the chat assistant replies to you with an Account Support link — you may have to reply to the chat assistant with other prompts, like I can't login or I don't have a store before it presents you with that link. Once it does however, you can click on it and you'll be able to be connected with one of our live support team members for further assistance.

Hi, Im having the same issue and im in Jersey as well. Did you find a solution to this?

No solution, braintree couldn't help, shopify couldn't help setting up
another payment provider. Currently have everything on hold till I move out
of Jersey permanently end of this month and try what will be available to
where I'm moving.

Worldpay require a turnover of several million a year now and the local payment provider Citypay are unable to integrate with Shopify as they have closed their doors on any new Payment Service Providers (PSP) to use their platform! It doesn't look like anyone will support card payments in Jersey on the shopify platform.

Well, that's a shame as its advertised as supported (or was, haven't
checked it in a while) luckily I have moved out from Jersey and managed to
get the payments going! Maybe try a VPN? It's not ideal, but heard it works.

I have asked Digital Jersey for an update. I see there are some other options now, e.g. Adyen, but I don't know what their turnover thresholds would be.

I applied several times online with Adyen but never had any reply!
