What do you mean by "page speed" is this an internal tool or external tool measuring.

Make sure you are not confusing store ranking metric vs real perfomance audit tests.

Read or reread the free manual: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/store-speed/speed-report

Store performance ranking is you vs others stores like yours. So a drop off just indicates your competitors are improving and you're staying the same not necessarily that store "speed" is getting slower for actual customers.

If your peers improve their stores' speeds, then your ranking might decrease even if you don't make ...

Hello Thewhiskeycave,

Thanks for reaching out to the community!

Here are some suggestions for you to optimize the speed of your website:

  1. Compress the images to reduce their loading time on the website. You are suggested to use SEO tools, like SEOKart, to compress images, as their file size is reduced but the visual quality remains the same.
  2. Remove unused JavaScript and CSS: Sometimes, when you uninstall software or apps from the website, they leave residue in the form of JavaScript and CSS codes. Now, assess the website to determine such dead codes on the website and remove them permanently.
  3. Minify Scripting: You can minify or compress JavaScript and CSS codes by using the GZIP file format, which is used for compressing the textual content of the website.
  4. Implement AMP: Accelerated Mobile Pages or AMP is an open-source HTML framework, which allows Google to store cached versions of these pages on the mobile server, which reduces the loading time of the website on mobile devices.
  5. Implement lazy loading for advertisements and large images, which is a technique for identifying the resources on the website and increasing their waiting time to load. This allows other important resources on the website to load fast.
  6. Utilize CDN (Content Delivery Network), which is the process by which proxy servers are created all across the globe, and cached versions of the pages are stored on these servers. This reduces the distance between the servers and user browsers; thus, reducing the loading time of the website.
  7. Compress large fonts by reducing their file size and removing unnecessary glyphs on the website.
  8. Remove image carousels, especially the automatic ones, as the scripting for these elements is heavy and reduces the speed of the website. Thus, replacing these image carousels with normal images can help you reduce the loading time of the website.
  9. Reduce the number of redirects, as they increase the waiting time for the users.
  10. Use PageSpeed Insights, which is a free tool by Google that helps you check the speed of the website on mobile and desktop devices. It can help the users to identify various opportunities to improve the speed of the website.

Hope it helps!
