Why is my SSL still pending after correct changes?

Why is my SSL still pending after correct changes?

Hi guys,

Can someone help me with SSL pending. It's been a week since I made the right changes and it is not going away. The domain provider is Squarespace. I put

  1. Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
  2. Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.

I don't think that I'm missing stuff that needs to be done.

One thing that I noticed is that shops.myshopify.com. get saved without the last dot (like this shops.myshopify.com)

Thank you in advance.

Hi, @TomTom11!
Thanks for reaching out in our Community Forums and for sharing your concern, I’d be happy to help.

I understand that you are experiencing a few issues when attempting to connect your third party domain to your Shopify store. Typically, it can take up to 48 hours for the TLS certificate to be issued. During that time, an SSL Unavailable error might be displayed in your Shopify admin. Since a week has passed, you will want to review your DNS Settings. You can follow the steps here:

  1. On your domain provider’s website, log in to your account.
  2. Find the DNS settings or domain management area.
  3. Change the following records:
    1. Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
    2. If necessary, change the Host name to the @ symbol.
    3. Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
    4. Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.. Be sure to include the period at the end of the domain.
  4. Save your changes.

If you are still experiencing issues, I suggest reviewing our Help Center documents on how to connect your domain, and enable secure connections to your domain. If you are still having issues, you can reach out to your domain provider for more troubleshooting steps.

Hope this helps!

I contacted them and they said that I have to get an SSL in Shopify.

("Since your domain is pointing away from Squarespace, contact your website host about an SSL certificate instead.")

The sooner the reply the better.

Thanks.

Hi again, @TomTom11!

Thank you for following up.

I understand that you have already reached out to Squarespace to inquire further about the issue. Since you have double-checked that all the DNS settings correctly point to Shopify and have waited for over the 48-hour propagation period, we will need to access your account to gather more information. However, please note that we are unable to provide account-specific support through the Community Forums.

But don't worry! We would be more than happy to continue assisting you through our Help Center. To access our live support, you can ask the Virtual Shopify Assistant to "contact support." It will guide you on the next steps to connect with a team member who can provide further assistance tailored to your account.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know. We are here to help!

@TomTom11 did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same problem with Squarespace.

Hi there, @ChiefsLab! Thanks for taking the time to follow up on this thread! My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!

You mentioned that you're experiencing the same issues that our original poster, @TomTom11 had been. I wanted to touch base and see if you had the opportunity to action any of the steps my colleague Mac mentioned in their above replies. Have you taken the time to review your DNS settings on Squarespace to ensure that the information outlined above matches what you've provided Sqaurespace? As it can take up to 48 hours for a SSL to propagate, if this duration of time has gone by with no change to the status of your SSL, please reach out to our Support Team so we can get you authenticated and look into some account and domain specific information related to your account that we don't have access to here in the Community Forums.
