How to optimize a large GIF and add video schema markup?

Hello Shopify!

I have two questions for you:

1. What's the best way to optimize a 4MB .GIF the client added to their website if you don't have the original file? If you do have the original file, what's the best compression method to bring this behemoth down in size?

2. We added a video to one of our pages and the client wants us to "Add video schema markup to pages with Youtube videos to improve chances of ranking for Videos on the SERPs". I am entirely sure how to go about adding video schema for individual videos. Below is what they sent over.

My question is, do I need to create a new template for each page that has its own video in order to add all of this code they sent over? Where does this code get added to?

THANK YOU in advance if you can answer either question!

Code for 1 video:

Hi @birdhouse USA

No matter how much you compress your GIF files, they will still be huge for Google’s page speed insights. The best way of loading GIF files is to load them as. JPEG files & once a page fully loads, then you can replace it with the original GIF file.

It will surely have to increase your store’s speed and performance.

For the video-rich implementation, kindly find the static code here. You need to place the objects over there using liquid. You can create a snippet in your theme field and use it multiple times in your store.

Hope it helps!
