How can I increase sales for my online store?

Hi, thanks a great forum. I have just started a shop and have managed to get some traffic to it but no one buying. I advertise via Facebook. What tips do you have on how I should start sales? Thanks for all the tips. You can check out my site if you want: www.linqshop.com Kind regards Jimmy

I hope you are doing well and staying safe. There are a few suggestions i would like to make about your store.

 

  •  Make sure your brand has a favicon, which is a visual icon that helps customers to find  you  when they have multiple tabs open. It represents your brand visually and helps boost your online branding as well as trust from potential consumers
  • Sticky header is recommended, as it makes it easy for the user to directly jump to the menu at any point of time while they are navigating through the Site.
  • A properly designed and built hero banner can help drive the right kind of customers on your website. Consider a strong message that represents what next step you want your site visitor to do based on their needs along with the CTA button on the banner.
  • Growing your business with a business blog is a great way to market your site. Now that you have some traffic coming to your site through your blog, you have an opportunity to convert that website traffic into leads.
  • Expand your social media promotions and attach those social links to the icons on footer menu. Make sure that social links open on new tab
  • Update contact us page with adding more details, as it builds trust on your store.
  • You can also sell your products on Etsy marketplace as it is very good platform to sell unique, handmade and Vintage goods . If you are already selling on Etsy store consider our Etsy Integration app in the shopify app store which provides seamless integration between Shopify-Etsy shop. Etsy is a Huge marketplace for selling creative goods such as art & collectibles, crafts & supplies, jewellery &accessories and more, If you have any unique/handmade/vintage goods in your store, you can give further exposure to your products.

I’m Garcia, a CRO expert from PageFly - Advanced Page Builder app.

Your store looks nicely done! However, you’ll still need to polish your storefront in order to really boost your store’s CR which eventually brings you sales. Here I’ll have some suggestions for you to do just that:

 

1. General

  • Add a favicon: A favicon might be minor, but it’s crucial in making your online store look professional. Simply add a favicon which is basically a small version of your brand logo on a transparent background. Do note the requirements for the image stated by Shopify.

  • (Optional) Use a different theme with a different styling: You’re currently using the Dawn theme which is a classic, default Shopify theme. You can consider switching to other themes with different styling so that your storefront will be less likely to be identified as “same as others” or using page builder app.

 

2. For the Homepage

  • Update your announcement bar: It’s nice that you included an announcement bar which is great for informing your visitors about your ongoing discounts. But right now it’s not standing out. Consider giving it a different color like dark grey with white, bolded text so that it captures their attention more easily.

  • Update your header: Your header has a navigation bar that has way too many menu items. This may cause slight confusion for your visitors as they land on your page. Consider grouping your items into one (like grouping collections into one “Shop Collections” dropdown menu item).

  • Change your hero banner’s background image: Based on your current choice of image, one might think your store is selling either pants or shopping bags which I assume your store doesn’t. Consider changing your image into a crisp, HD image of your actual products or of someone trying on your products.

  • Adjust your text and CTA button in the hero banner: Right at the moment visitors enter your store, they can’t see your texts and the CTA button in your hero banner because they’re all not visible above the fold. Consider shifting all of them up so that they appear right away and not after your visitors have to scroll down a bit. This will be much more presentable.

Additionally, you should also change your texts’ color so that they don’t blend in your new background image, too. Same goes for your CTA button.

  • Make your Featured Products a carousel: It’s quite some work to scroll through all of those products. Consider making this section a carousel that you can navigate horizontally so that your Homepage won’t be too packed with just products, making way for other essential info which I’ll mention below.

  • Add more sections: Homepage should be the start of your customers’ journey. Therefore, it should include sections that persuade your visitors that they’re shopping at the right place. Consider adding these sections to your Homepage: About us, Featured Collections, Trust badge, Testimonials, Your Brand’s Promises, Newsletter.
  • Add legal pages in the footer: These often overlooked pages are absolutely crucial, both in terms of legal reasons and reassuring your customers that their purchases are fully protected. Consider adding these legal pages to your footer: Shipping policy, Refund policy, Privacy policy, TOS.

3. For the Collection page

  • Adjust your images’ height: Your current product items in your collection pages don’t have the same images’ height, making it look disorganized. Consider converting your primary images (the 1st image of each product) into the same format of square-sized images.

  • Update your products’ primary images: Some of your primary images look overloaded with multiple smaller images in them. Consider updating your primary images to only a single product on a plain or textured background, so that your visitors can focus on the entirety of it easily.

  • Turn pagination into infinite scrolling: We generally avoid pagination on collection pages because it causes visitors to manually navigate across multiple pages to get to where they want. Instead, implement infinite scrolling so that they can stay on the same page and shop for what they need with ease.

  • Update your products’ texts: This includes your product title, prices. Here, I suggest you make your discounted price stand out by making it bold and in a different color like red, and also include a customers’ star ratings as well as color swatches so that your visitors get enough info to shop right away, providing maximum convenience.

4. For the Product page

  • Make your discounted price stand out: Just like I mentioned above, the same goes for your product’s discounted prices right on your product pages. Making it bold and giving it a different, notable color so that it captures more attention.
  • Use color swatches: Text-based variant swatches, that you’re currently using, won’t do much in terms of describing your product’s available colors. Instead, use color swatches that do wonders!
  • Simplify your product description: Your current product description is way too long, and you don’t need to duplicate your product images here since they’re provided on the left side already. Consider compressing your description into an accordion (collapsible content tabs).

I appreciate that you have included your online store URL for us to take a further look! When I navigated to your homepage, I noticed that you currently do not have a favicon added to the store. A favicon is a small image that displays on the browser tab and represents the company/business. If you take a look towards the tabs on your browser - I am sure you will see several favicons. You can add a favicon to your online store by following this guide here
 
I did want to bring to your attention that you could potentially reduce the number of messages in the announcement bar. For instance, you could welcome your visitors to your online store by mentioning there are available discounts or free-shipping offers in the same announcement message. This is a great way to ensure that your visitors don't miss out on that information! It is also a good way to create a buyer incentive and encourage a purchase.

First off, take a good look at your website. Is it easy to navigate? Are your product descriptions clear and enticing? High-quality images make a big difference too.

 

Next, make sure your ads on Facebook are hitting the right people. Check your targeting settings to make sure you're reaching folks who are likely to be interested in what you're selling.

 

When it comes to your ads, they need to grab attention. Think about what makes your products special and make sure that come across in your ad copy and visuals. And don't forget to test different versions to see what works best.

 

Retargeting is a powerful tool. If someone visits your site but doesn't buy, a reminder ad might be just what they need to come back and make a purchase.

Everybody loves a deal, so consider offering discounts or promotions to give people that extra nudge to buy from you.

Engage with your audience on social media. Respond to comments and messages, and build those relationships. People are more likely to buy from someone they feel a connection with.

Put "Secured and trusted checkout with" in your footer. Other significant observations for store optimization are as follows:

 

  1. You can add a favicon on the website ref this article from Shopify here, it’s simple and will help strengthen your brand.
  2. The default search landing page is a bit off, I mean it's empty. You can show products on that page as well by simply updating the default search on the website with different search solutions.
  3. Make sure your social media pages open at the new tab instead of the same tab. This will ensure your customers stay on your website while looking at your social presence.
  4. Add a live chat option on the website.
  5. Finally, I would also recommend you to try Sparq product filters and search to replace the default search on your store, this app allows advanced custom tag product filters for collection pages, synonyms, spelling correction, and other such features.
