Hi Shopify Friends,

I've just finished the basics on launching my store so far. I'm planning on spending quite a bit of money on advertising and I'd like to make sure the website isn't missing anything or gives a great impression. I'd be so very grateful if you could share your honest criticism on my store and what I could improve. Please let me know what you think :)

Hey there @ppeacock

It looks like you have a great start on your store so far! Even though it’s just your first store, it looks great.

Let’s dive in!

Homepage

  • Banner: Replace the Free Shipping message with your promo code. The free shipping is what can be featured on the product pages, but it’s the promo code that’s going to catch attention. Whatever you decide, make sure it’s linked to your collections. A lot of people miss conversions simply by not having a linked banner.
  • Take out the web push notification request. Unless you’re planning on doing a lot of updates or deals, take it down. It generally has a low conversion rate, or at least in what I’ve found.
  • For your hero image, make it more obvious what you sell. The leaf you are using is beautiful, but it has nothing to do with jewelry! If this is the first experience someone has, they probably aren’t scrolling down to see your jewelry. Instead, find an image that works well, create a better invitation and include a linked CTA button.
  • I would recommend using click and scroll heatmaps (which shows you how people use your website) to evaluate your homepage length. Especially as you get more traffic, evaluate where visitors click and how far they scroll down the page. My initial thought is that you should remove most of the page below the hero image and instead feature your collections (bracelets, necklaces, etc.) instead of jumping right into the products.
  • Contact: Your conflicting buttons are just going to confuse rather than help. When do they use “Contact Us” and when do they use Messenger? In my experience, pick one and stick with it. Messenger can be great, but it doesn’t always have the best success in answering customer questions while they are still on your site.

Footer

  • Contact us: Link your email address
  • Social media icons: Make sure they open in a new tab
  • FAQ: I was shocked to see that you only ship to Canada - add that you will be adding international shipping in the near future. You need to link an email address under “What happens if I refuse my shipment?” Your link for the Returns and Exchanges policy are broken. In general, I would use heatmaps to see which FAQs are most popular and then rank the questions by popularity.
  • Customer Care: Link your email address.
  • Contact Us: Link your email address. Remove the phone number field from your form. Even though it’s not required, that can be enough to scare away visitors from completing it.
  • Terms of Service: Link your email address

Navigation

  • Main: I like how your navigation is simple to use. I would take out the collections drop-down though; most of your visitors likely won’t be coming to see your best sellers. They’ll be looking for things like a necklace or a bracelet. Keep it simple. Use a session recording (which acts like a DVR for your website) to see more of how people use your store and navigate through it.
  • Collection page: I like that you have filters, but you have too many filters. For example, what’s the difference between bracelet and bracelt (sic)? It’s little things like that. Make sure it’s easy for people to search for their products. While some people may scroll, others may not.

Product Pages

  • Reiterate your free shipping offer. If you change the banner to the promo code, you’ll get the best of both.
  • Add in more detail in the description. If there are different gold color options, make it clear that it’s available in white gold and yellow gold.
  • Consider revamping your product names. For example, the AMORINFANT Cz Pendant Necklace doesn’t really describe that it’s a boy or girl figure. Clean it up to be easier to understand.

As you go into a paid campaign, make sure you have visitor behavior tags in place to monitor your heatmaps and session recordings. You can even go into campaign-level data to better understand how different campaigns succeeded. Lucky Orange has heatmaps, live chat, session recordings and more with a free trial (no credit card needed) and plans that start at US $10/month.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Cheers -

Danny

Hey, @ppeacock my congrats!!

My suggestion you may put valuable reviews of your product https://www.pompouspeacock.com/collections/luxe/products/the-brilha-bracelet-cz-adjustable-tennis-br...

As an example, you can extract reviews via (Shopify data extractor) https://e-scraper.com/shopify/#freescraper - from your supplier.

You need reviews because customers belive to customers but not your product description..

if you have reviews with photos and feedbacks with a different lexicon you will have a better conversion for sure. Also, you may ask about that favor your friends.
