Started running ads yesterday- traffic still no sales

Hey guys , 

I launched my website recently and just started running ads on facebook and instagram yesterday. I'm not sure what is putting customers off, because ive not even gotten an add to cart. I would really appreciate some feedback! i really need to get this right. the website is

I am not an expert but your site is adorable!  Really well done.  My only critique is that you have so few items.  You should add way more.

I really like your store, you have done really great job on your homepage. 

  1. Clear CTAs - help to show what to do next. Hero banner on your homepage is a key to make a connection with every visitor. You should clearly communicate what your website is about.
  2. Branding - clearly show your company branding. Logo, brand colors, brand fonts - should be the same across websites, emails, and social profiles. A key part of building your brand is making it recognizable. 
  3. Social proof - an incredibly powerful sales and lead generation tool. 
  4. Engaging images - you need them on your homepage to give visitors a sense of what your business is about. Images help you to tell a story and show visitors what they can gain from your product. For a product website think about how images can convey the value of your product and help your visitors to achieve their goals.
  5. If your website doesn’t have a blog already, make creating one a priority. But if you have a blog, it gives people a reason to keep coming back. Blogs also help improve your SEO because you’re constantly adding new content to your page.
  6. Try adding SEO related high search keywords in your title and product description so that it will be very easy to market your products and display them at the top in google search.
  7. Imagine if you saw something that you quite like in the store, however you want to browse more, get more options, and then choose the best one. That often happens to me, because I am indecisive. That is when Wishlist comes in handy. Since you have a lot of products on your site, I recommend adding that feature to improve the user experience on your site. Besides, if the items on the wishlist have not been purchased, automated emails will be sent out as a reminder.
  8. Implement an opportunity to log in and sign up using Social Media account. We all have accounts at least in one social media. And if I have an opportunity to create an account just with one click, I will do it. having an easier way to Sign in will help you gather customer base. The most valuable thing for a company is the customer

  9. The items in your store are something that every person will need in their lives. Therefore, I recommend using a Referral program by Growave to give your customers an opportunity of sharing your products with friends and getting rewarded for that.
  10. The sale you have seems to be a nice deal, however, when you make such a big amount off it might devalue your product. People always need to know why you have made such sales, is it a seasonal sale? or is it because there is no demand for it? Does that mean the product is bad? 

    Instead of giving a discount for nothing, give them rewards for completing certain actions on your store ex. for creating accounts, for leaving a review, for sharing your site, for spending money on your site. It is not difficult for a user to do and you will get so many actions on your site, and you are having discounts anyway.
  11. Use a referral program that will encourage your existing customers to share your products with their friends by giving discounts if the latter have purchased something from your store. With referral programs it is important to carefully set up so that you are not giving huge discounts and not getting anything back. [I recommend using one by Growave., because it is safe and it is integrated with 6 other marketing features (Reviews, Wishlist, Rewards, Social Login, Instagram, Discounts, Referral, VIP tiers) for better performance.

@GrowaveWow! all of the great points! I'm going to look into Growave again. We can certainly use this info in our store too. Starter pricing is a little steep considering we're only paying half of that for Basic Shopify itself, but I'll look into it.

Is there any chance the wishlist reminder emails can be added to the Starter plan? Even a limited set like 50 emails/month will do. Hope some form of limited sets for other features could also be included in the Starter plan (like the different Loyalty options, Q&A and Custom Questions) so that we get more bang for the buck, and it could also be a great way for your Starter users to try them out, before they upgrade to Growth plan! Please think about it.

Also hope to see an explanations of what "basic" Wishlist and "basic" Social login (in Free plan) mean. Thanks! ☺

@claudiatrippettBesides all of the great suggestions from others (regarding marketing your website and products), I would also look at making your landing home page more minimal and focused to keep your visitor longer. I really like the theme and the cute baby photo, but there are at least 3 items calling my attention equally away from the baby in my peripheral vision. The GDPR notice, the chat bubble and the banner. I see the cute baby, then I don't know where to look! I'd say:

  • Remove the banner. It pushes the whole website downwards, creating a negative visual effect. Also, the information in the banner is redundant because your chat bubble also offers the discount.
    • It also appears on every page, so that means every product that I look, I always have that annoying banner popping up and pushing the website down, then disappearing pulling the website back up. Again and again. Not good.
  • If you need a banner, make sure the banner simply slides into view at the top, but doesn't move the website. Also only display when relevant. Try to not display it on every page visited. Just the first page or first few pages, but then don't show it any more until certain time has passed.
  • Try to soften the visual appearance of the GDPR notice so that it's much less attention seeking, and doesn't compete equally with the chat bubble. Please check how much you can change this notice legally. I've seen websites where the notice is just a simple banner that's not really very noticeable at first.
  • The links on top such as "free delivery worldwide" and "24/7 customer support" are just reloading the same page. If these are not links, make them non-link text so that clicking won't do anything. Otherwise link them to a proper page or the chat pop-up as needed.
  • I would also hide the chat bubble in the initial phase and only show it up when the visitor is scrolling down half-way or starting to browse the website and look at the products. They need to know what you're offering 10% discount for, before they are told they can get 10% discount. You're not selling a live baby ☺🙂
