Hello, We started Pawesomeproducts.com in January. We are nearing 2200 website visits and have had one customer sale. Just installed Hotjar, looking forward to the results on that; I was wondering if anyone Identifies any blatant issues with what we may have missed.  Thank you!

Hello @pawesome ,

Congrats on your first sale! I've viewed your store and would suggest some improvements to design:


  • It's much better to make your logo with transparent background. There are many free background removal tools.
  • Logo already has paddings, combined with header's paddings it takes up too much space. You can either crop the logo or remove header section top and bottom paddings.




  • In product list, lack of whitespace making the product cards look cluttered. You can add whitespace from Customize > Theme settings > Layout > Horizontal & Vertical Space  . I'd suggest between 24-32px space.
  • Try to avoid too long product titles to not lose attention of customers and keep integrity with other titles.


Trust badges section:

  • It looks fine on mobile but due to slideshow covering the entire page, section looks too big on desktop. You can use multicolumn section to eliminate the issue and keep the same design.



Additional Suggestions:


1) Collections:

  • Instead of showing all products at once, it's much better to create collections that would guide the users for easier navigation. Examples: Cat beds, Dog health, Food, Treat, Toys etc.
  • Collections are helpful not just for better navigation but also to for better SEO ranks. Google loves categories.


2) Color Palette:

  • Having a color palette will enhance overall design and help creating a brand identity. Each color evokes different feelings on customers, you can check their meanings to have an idea on how to pick.
  • For start, instead of using pure black as primary color, you can use a dark brown. That would fit better to pet store theme.


3) Storytelling:

  • Storytelling sections are extremely helpful to enhance overall design and build trust with customers. It also helps a lot with SEO.
  • You already have a great material on your announcement bar. I'd suggest creating a dedicated section highlighting that customers will be helping homeless, handicapped and service animals with their purchase. Give details about the process for trust. Also, using images that would fit the section will add up to the user experience.
  • Blogs are another great source of content. It will also show customers that Pawesome knows what's best for pets and it's a trustable brand.
