Can Shopify inbox chat support multiple languages?

Hey there,

I am wondering if is there a multilanguage option for Shopify inbox (chat).

I am selling in Serbian and English and I would like to have the chat box in the language that was chosen with the language switcher.

The online store chat from Shopify Inbox appears in the same language as your theme and it will default to English if you're using an unsupported language. While multiple languages isn't supported on Shopify Inbox at this time, I'd be happy to put forth a feature request on your behalf. If Shopify moves forward with any changes to Shopify Inbox, we'll be sure to announce them on the Shopify Changelog

 

That being said, if you'd like to explore an online store chat that supports multiple languages, then I'd recommend taking a look at a third-party app called Tidio - Live Chat& Chatbots. Tidio offers automated chatbots and provides an option to support multiple languages. If you need any help with Tidio, the app developer is always available to assist you - you can reach out to them directly through the contact information found in the Support section of their app's page.

I'd love to hear more about your business! What kinds of products do you sell? Are you running any ad campaigns at the moment? Or, do you have a marketing plan prepared for your store?

I checked and translation is added by app, so if you want to translate Shopify inbox, you need to contact app directly. They will help you to check and setup it.

Thank you for the extended explanation. I hope you will include in the near future the multilanguage feature in the Shopify inbox app. Regarding Tidio, I have already installed the app. However, if you want to use the app as a multilanguage, there are some facts that you need to have in mind. First, the app will set the language according to the location/language setting of your browser (not according to the language set in your web store). Therefore, if you want to have the app take the language from the web store, you must manually change some snippets' code. Unfortunately, I do not feel like I have enough skills for that.

Regarding my business, I think that I am doing it just fine. No campaigns for the moment, the marketing plan is almost baked.
I am trying to get into the textile market, as a retail seller. Also, I am offering yoga stuff, all made from natural materials.

I've submitted a feature request on your behalf for Shopify Inbox to support multiple languages and, hopefully, we can see something like this in the near future. Please keep an eye on the Shopify Changelog for when Shopify announces new features and upcoming changes. 

 

I'm not too familiar with Tidio's multi-language support. However, integrating their app with your store may be something that the app developer can help you with. Did you get a chance to reach out directly to the developer to see if they can help you with the custom coding? 

 

That being said, since you're trying to get into the textile market and sell yoga-related products, then you may be able to draw some inspirations from our merchant's success stories. Please check out the following for some tips and suggestions shared by our merchants:

Hi, I would also like to «request» the multilingual shopify chat! I think it will make the customers more comfortable, and make the experience more personal!

Hi, thanks alot, that would be great! I sell motorcycle parts! I do not have a very firm marketing plan at the moment. I do have a question if its possible to ask you for some guidence? 

Currently have the Dawn 2.0 theme and would appreciate some help in increasing the number of columns in a featured collection displayed on the home screen from 2 to 3 and 4.

The customization allows for 4 columns on desktop but only 2 for mobile. I'd like to increase the columns for mobile to 3 and 4. I've had a search around, tried a couple of things but my knowledge is limited. Have a great day! Store is: scandimoto.com

The Dawn theme is a responsive theme so the layout will automatically adjust itself based on the screen size and resolution that it's being viewed from. As this feature offers better readability and usability on smaller screens, such as smartphones, it is designed to display 2 columns for smartphones and up to 4 columns when viewing from a tablet (with the Featured collection section). As a result, I'm not sure if this is a recommended customization; however, our theme support team can help you explore this customization.

 

If your store is subscribed to a plan, then you'll be eligible to use the complimentary design time included with our design policy on customizing your Shopify-supported theme. While we're unable to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community, we'd be happy to further assist you with a customization request through live chats. Simply visit the Shopify Help Center and login to your account to create a support request.
