How can I modify the initial client data text in Shopify Inbox?

Is there a way to change the text that appears when the client fills out their data in the beginning of the user experience with Shopify Inbox?

"Before we get started | Please provide your information"

Hey there, @zohia. Thanks for following up with me! I hope you're doing well today.

 

I decided to check in with our Inbox Team to see what sort of input they could provide us here. They got back to me letting me know that at this time, there is no way to customize the wording of that particular messaging. 

 

With that being said, the Inbox Team was really appreciative of the feedback you provided them with requesting this. They've gone ahead and passed the feedback along to the appropriate folks to see if this can be included in a future update.

 

I spent some time exploring your store and I love your product! As a previous teacher, I can see how something like that can be really helpful for a classroom, or even for any avid reader. I noticed that you don't have an 'About Us' page built for you store, and I think your business would really benefit from this.

 

An 'About Us' page lets you share the story of your brand with customers, and helps them feel more connected to you and your products. You can learn more about building such pages at this link here.

I'm happy to take some time looking into this question for you. I just have a few questions myself to make sure I'm understanding everything I need to here. First, is this the wording that you're asking about in your post? 15-03-34030-31333.png

 

  • Do you mind sharing some information around why you're looking to change this wording?
  • You use the word 'translation' in your title - are you looking to change the wording here from English to a different language?

 

If possible, get back to me when you can with the request information, and I'll be happy to see what info I can turn up for you. Additionally, I'd love it if you could link your store for me here, so I can see if I can identify this wording on your live store, just so I have more examples of what we're discussing.

Hi Imogen,

 

Thanks for your reply.

So, I'm using the Portuguese version and through the app's backoffice I can adapt most of the text lines.

However I can't find the place to change these lines:

"Antes de começarmos

Fornece as tuas informações para que te possamos responder se saíres da conversa."
 
These lines are on the screen that shows up after you try to start chatting.

Hi @Imogen, yours was the sweetest message ever. ❤️

We were needing an extra motivational push (our shelves are quite expensive but we don't have a way to lower the price at the moment, which means sales are not easy) and your words kind of did that.

The about us page is on our extensive to do list. It has just gone up a few steps. 😄

 

About the non editable message, I think it would be important for them to know that that particular message is worded in the third person singular, which in Portugal is a casual way to address people. It might make sense for some businesses, but not all. All our copy is in a more formal format, which makes that particular message stand out as not making sense with the overall communication.

I was happy to provide you with some feedback about your product! I used to be a teacher so I can think of lots of situations where bookcases like this would have been helpful. If you're worried about the pricing of your product, maybe you can look at providing 'free shipping' to potential customers (you would just add the expected shipping cost to the total price of the product). The reason why I suggest this is because seeing 'free shipping' is often enough for a customer to feel adamant on purchasing a product, regardless of the product's price.

 

I'll be sure to pass along that cultural context to the team regarding why you'd like to edit the wording there. Context like that is great for us, so we can explain why it's valuable to the Inbox Team.

Hi there, @Bulgarian. Thank you for taking the time to follow up on our thread here regarding Shopify Inbox, and translations!

 

Do you mind sharing with me what specific feature you were looking for an update on when it comes to Inbox and translations? To set some expectations for you, Shopify Inbox will default to the language that your theme is set to. Your default messages that are included in your Shopify Inbox App (so the default messages our developers included in the app) will be translated automatically. If you change these default messages, you'll need to translate them yourself when adding them to your Inbox App.

 

Were there specific features that you were looking for updates on?

Hi Imogen, I'm also looking to translate areas in Shopify Inbox - where can I find these? I'm using the Shopify Translate & Adapt App and also Hextom TMS, and can't find anything suggesting Shopify Inbox can be translated at all...

We use Translate & Adapt and wanted to use because is a Shopify developed product. We realized now, that we dont have te posibility to translate the Shopify Inbox Messages.
