How to handle false DMCA claims on my Shopify store?

I have been bombarded with false DMCA claims. People have been stealing MY images and posting them as theirs and then DMCA'ing my store. This has happened countless times but recently someone has spam DMCA'd my store and now it is being deleted.

I have 100% ownership over these photos and created them myself. I have over a million revenue on this store. Yet somehow some random person can make a store in 10 minutes, steal my images and upload them, post a DMCA claiming I stole their images, and in a few hours get my million dollar business shut down. How stupid and flawed is that?

This is the worst fault with Shopify I have ever seen, and the reason I am going to switch platforms if they don't help me. Shopify is horrible at scale due to this issue it needs to be fixed.

I have been loyal to Shopify for a long time, but this is undoubtably the biggest fk up ever and makes the whole platform UNUSABLE. I couldn't even run that store consistently for 1 month without someone filing a fake DMCA on my store and not a single person from Shopify helped me. Absolutely useless dogs.

Can anyone please give me some advice on how I can even contact Shopify properly? Support agents can do absolutely nothing and whenever I email the legal team they take days to respond and it's just a generalised auto response. I literally can't contact Shopify at all for this issue.

Please someone help me out to stop my store being deleted and fix this massive flaw in the platform.

Had the exact same issue. I instantly moved my store to WooCommerce once I realised Shopify was completely incompetent and did not care about this whatsoever. Had a sleepless night rushing to get my new store out, and now sales are back again using WooCommerce, 36 hours after the DMCA strike.

Shopify think it’s okay to remove our entire store for 14 days minimum, just because some troll filed an obviously fake DMCA strike made in 5 minutes.

From $1,500+ in sales a day to ZERO the next because essentially, someone filed a report saying “they stole my images” with no evidence, and shopify automatically deletes the entire store. Best part is, the images he claimed we used weren’t even on our store. It’s 100% automated with ZERO checks.

I wish I could use shopify. It’s miles ahead of something like WooCommerce. Incredibly easy to use, modern and tons of apps and features, but this one flaw makes it absolutely impossible to run a successful store on.

I laugh, knowing they probably spend millions a year on account security and account hacking preventions, when all you need to do to completely screw over your completion is file a DMCA report that takes you 2 minutes.

Also, the guy who submitted the DCMA put his name as “Yur Broke”. I made this apparent to the shopify legal team, and they sent the same generic response back saying I need to wait 14 days before they can put the content back online.

They are delusional and don’t realise 2 weeks is dozens of thousands worth of sales. Mindless idiots.

My advice to you is to immediately switch to WooCommerve as fast as you can to start earning money again. Look up tutorials.

Hey, I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I'm currently going through the exact same thing. I made a thread on X (aka Twitter) sharing my story with these fake DMCAs. Tobi (CEO) has responded but we need more people to share their stories. This urgently needs to be fixed.

If you can, please share your story here and tag @tobi and @harleyf: https://x.com/brndnlouis/status/1709296165944983566?s=20
