Improve my online store speed with coding\

1 0 1

I recently tried out PageSpeed Insights website where it showed that my store is really slow. I already did everything in my power, compressed images and deleted all the apps that I do not need. But the website still shows a lot of things that can be improved through coding where I do not have any experience. Can someone help me get my store speed above 85 at least, so my customers wont leave the page the second that they see something load in after they have been scrolling about 3-5 seconds.

Hi @InfiRemote,

Thank you for your post. Have you tested your store's speed using Shopify's own online store speed report? If so, what results did you get?

Please bear in mind that third-party speed reports are often inaccurate when it comes to testing the speed of Shopify stores, and their results should be taken with a pitch of salt. They can be a good indicator of how fast your store's speed is but it's also good to test for yourself on different devices and connections. Please also refer to our documentation on improving your online store's speed to better understand what factors you can and can't control.

Hello @InfiRemote,

I am Gina from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $7Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.

Here are some steps you can take to increase your store's speed and aim for a score of 85 or higher.

-> Implementing lazy loading for images and other less essential elements is recommended. This approach involves loading images only when they are about to become visible to the user, thus reducing the initial load time.

-> Activate browser caching to enhance webpage loading speed for returning visitors. By configuring your server with appropriate caching headers for static resources such as images, stylesheets, and scripts, you allow these resources to be stored locally, resulting in faster load times.

-> Minimize the quantity of HTTP requests required for loading each webpage element like images, scripts, and stylesheets. This can be achieved by consolidating files where possible and eliminating unnecessary elements.

-> Choose a lightweight and well-optimized Shopify theme. Opt for themes that don't overwhelm your website with excessive features, as these can slow down its performance. You can assess different themes' speed using tools like Google PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix.

-> Exercise caution when integrating third-party scripts on your website, as they can significantly impact loading speed. Only integrate scripts that are crucial for your store's functionality.

-> Utilize a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to store your website files on numerous servers worldwide. This reduces the physical distance between users and servers, ultimately leading to faster loading speeds.

-> Given the growing number of mobile users, it's essential to optimize your site for mobile performance. Employ responsive design techniques and thoroughly test your site on various mobile devices.

-> Efforts to minimize unnecessary redirects are advisable, as they add extra time to your page's loading process. Strive to reduce or eliminate unnecessary redirects to enhance user experience.

-> Ensure your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are well-organized and optimized. Eliminate any extraneous code, comments, or white spaces. Utilize tools like minifiers and compressors to reduce file sizes.

-> Maintain your Shopify platform, themes, and plugins by keeping them up to date. Developers often release updates that include bug fixes and performance enhancements.

-> Regularly evaluate your website's performance using tools like Google PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, Pingdom, or WebPageTest. These tools can pinpoint specific speed-related issues and offer recommendations for improvement.
