Odds are you have closed an element twice and this is causing some unnecessary code to display as plain text.

Cannot enter your store because it is not open. Can you share password?

I'm helping out on a project that has "> "> on above the announcement bar as well.

When you say the problem was "due to some google code", can you elaborate? Did you or someone add custom code to the website?

Attempts to find the problem:

I copied the liquid.theme file code into Atom and could not find the "> "> instance of code.

I think the problem exists in the body.template-index but I'm not able to find that file in Shopify.

Thank you!

How exactly did this solve the issue? I am trying to solve this issue as well and removed the google site verification from Title and Description on Online Store > Preferences didn't work.

Has somebody else managed to solve this issue?

Hi there,
According to another person on my account, they found it in this location:

Online store > Preferences > and then search in the Title and Description
dialogue box. There should be NO script or code snippets in that
dialogue box.

To troubleshoot this issue, I exported the code and inspected the site in
the browser and could not find it. I don't think I was able to find it
because the liquid file pulls a variable(s) from the "preferences"
section.

Let me know what you find!

Hi,

Just letting anyone who's reading this know that this worked for us!

We went to Online store > Preferences > and then deleted the code in the Meta Description box.

The symbols are now gone.

Thanks for your help!
