Every time I go to edit my theme —-> then go to edit a specific product within my theme I get this error. It only started happening today, I’m pretty sure this is due to last night I made a lot of modifications and might have messed up the code but I have no idea how to fix it or even how to troubleshoot this code. Any help would be appreciated
Hey, @Keeveng!
This is Moira from the Social Care team at Shopify. Thanks for posting!
I understand you have made some theme modifications that have caused a liquid error on your storefront. You've definitely posted in the right place! I'm more than happy to look into this for you. Shopify knows that errors are just human nature, so we have provided a way to undo changes made to a code file in your theme over time.
In case you have errors in your Liquid code, the first thing to do is to read the error documentation carefully to determine which file and on which line the error occurred. If you look at the “Failed to Load Page” message in the image above, you are unable to detect where the error occurred. In other words, some errors are not very expressive. In these cases, it is up to you to remember the files you modified when you were making your changes. If you feel lost, make sure to take a screenshot of the information provided on the "view documentation" page. Then post it here in the Shopify community where experts, are always ready to help you.
If you can identify the file or line where the error occurred, we can move on to the next steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Find the theme you want to edit, and then click Actions > Edit code.
Click on one of the files (under the relevant folder) in which you want to undo changes.
Note: Although the method applied here is effective in undoing your changes, the best way to protect yourself is to always back up your theme before making any changes.
Tip: As you continue to customize your theme, it’s a good idea to make design and content choices that help to keep your online store accessible. I suggest taking a look at this guide for tips on providing an inclusive experience for your customers.
If you have any questions please feel free to thread those below.
Cheers!

Hey @lprestoza,
This error tends to be related to an app you have installed! Do you have the Geolocation app by chance?
Please check the list of apps you have recently installed and deactivate them to see which one is causing the conflict.

Hello @Moira
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to reach out regarding an issue I'm experiencing with my newly created Shopify store. I have successfully set up my account and created the store; however, I'm encountering a problem with an app named "Email."
The issue I'm facing is that I'm unable to proceed with any actions related to this app. I've attempted to refresh the page several times as suggested, but unfortunately, the problem persists.
Here are the details of the apps currently installed in my Shopify store:
The specific error message I'm receiving is as follows:
I would greatly appreciate any assistance you could provide to resolve this matter. If there are any additional troubleshooting steps I can take on my end, please let me know, and I will gladly follow your guidance.
Hello, I also have this error and I do not have this app on my website.
I deleted the two apps I installed recently but I still have this issue preventing me from editing my website. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks
Hey there, @Pisani! Thanks for taking the time to follow up on this older thread regarding this editing error! My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!
It's great to hear that you've done some troubleshooting already by looking into these recently installed apps and seeing if they've been responsible for this error. As my colleague Moira mentions in their above post, this error could also be related to any code customizations you may have made recently to your theme. Have you or anyone else that may have worked on your store recently edited any code related to your theme?
I also notice that another user in this thread mentioned that this issue appeared to be caused by an extension they were using in their browser. Are you able to replicate this issue when using different browsers (i.e Chrome, Edge, Safari) on your device? Does this issue appear when trying to make edits in any other themes you have in your theme library, or only when working with this theme? If it's only with this theme, that does suggest the issue is with the coding of the theme, and the apps that you may have removed may have some left-over code impacting things, in which case reaching out to the developers of the app you installed would be your next move to request their support in completely removing their code from your theme.
If you're confident that no coding changes have been made, and testing different browsers doesn't result in any differences for you, then I recommend reaching out to our Authenticated Support Team via our Help Center. Reaching out to us via this method will allow us to get you authenticated so we can access your store information in real-time, collect some more context from you, and then advise on next best steps from there.

Hi! I just want to share my case for people who landed here to find a solved case.
I fixed it by removing a Chrome extension.
For me, the issue popped up when I opened the editor page in Chrome, but it didn’t happen in guest mode. So, I figured it was something to do with my Chrome settings or cache. Clearing the cache didn’t work, but removing a Chrome extension did the trick.
In my case, it was an AI extension causing the editor page not to load.
Hope this helps anyone dealing with the same issue!
