Hello, I'm using dawn theme, and everytime I try to customize my checkout page, the checkout page doesn't appear it keeps staying in the home page like the checkout page doesn't exist. I don't know what to do please help! I tried other themes, but it's the same issue!

Hi, @salamatic2001. I'm happy to look into this with you! I just have a few questions to make sure I'm giving you helpful advice going forward.

  • When did you first notice this? Has this always been happening or were you able to see your checkout page template before?
  • Have you tried to do this using any other browsers, devices, or internet connections?
  • What type of customizations are you trying to make?

I've tested this out on my end and I was able to open the checkout template in my theme editor without any isssues. If you're still experiencing this I'd recommend going through the following troubleshooting steps to rule out the issue being caused by something local to the device, browser, or internet connection you're using.

Troubleshooting steps:

  • Clear your cache and cookies. If you're using Google Chrome, use the "all time" date range.
  • Ensure you're using a supported, up to date, browser. You can find a list of the browsers Shopify supports here.
  • Ensure your browser's cookie preferences are not set to "Block all cookies".
  • Try using another browser, and try within your browser's private or incognito mode.
  • Try another device, such as another computer or a cellphone.
  • Try another internet connection. For example, switch to a cellular network on a phone rather than wifi.
  • Ensure there are no popups being blocked in the web browser.
  • Ensure you don't have any firewalls or VPNs (virtual private networks) enabled on your device or network blocking Shopify.

Please let me know if you have any questions after trying that out! You may also want to take a look over this guide on customizing your checkout in the meantime as well.

I am experiencing the exact same issue. I have zero alterations to the Dawn theme. I am unable to edit the Checkout page. I notice a console error when selecting this item from the list... "Error: Unknown component: SectionList"

Caches cleared and multiple browsers tested.

Hi, @brandonratz. I'm happy to help you out with this as well. Can you tell me more about the customizations you're trying to make and the steps you're taking before you see this error?

Depending on the customization you're trying to make, the error you're seeing may be expected behaviour. Customizations to the checkout are limited within the theme editor and the source code for the checkout is not made accessible for security purposes. You can find the available customization options for your checkout within your theme editor. You can also learn more about customizing the style of your checkout here.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Erin,
I was hoping to include some attributes collected via the Cart to the
checkout screen for additional confirmation. In short, nothing fancy, just
looking for accessing variables available on the Order.

Hi, @brandonratz. Thank you for clarifying that!

This isn't a customization that would be supported since it's beyond what's available within your theme editor and Shopify admin checkout settings. That being said, can you tell me more about the information you need confirmed? Also, which subscription plan are you currently using? With more information I may be able to recommend a workaround that can help you get this information confirmed elsewhere in the cart/checkout process.

Thank you Erin, I understand.

I am currently using a headless sales channel implementation. Therefore, I
only use the theme for the checkout portion of the cart flow. I would
happily change themes to obtain more control. However, the only part of a
theme I use is to accept payments via the checkout url provided by the api.

I am currently using a Basic plan and don't anticipate upgrading. Note, I
build client sites.
