Why is my website slowing down and how can I improve its speed?

Hi everyone,

My website has slowed down considerably over the past 6 months. The speed now often falls below 50. I recently deleted some apps and resized photos but it is still slow.
Can anyone please take a look at my store and suggest how I can improve the speed?

Many thanks

Hey there -

Pagespeed numbers can be a real thorn in your side. We have hundreds of merchants reach out every year looking for help with their pagespeed scores. They've been told they are bad.

It means nothing to your business or any business really. It is just a reference point.

The real numbers you need to look at are your core metrics:

Those are what shoppers feel and Google judges your store on. It is what causes the shoppers to actually bounce. It is the same metrics Shopify apps are judged on when we go through our review process.

What have you done over the past 6 months? What changes have you made that have been associated with drops?

You can remove an app; however, the code can still be left.

Shopify does A LOT of image manipulation for you when you upload an image. There is some wins that can happen there; however, Shopify is doing a lot of the heavy lifting to begin with.

Without getting under the hood and taking a look around, it is really hard to give a definitive recommendation on what to do.

I'm examining your site from the Google Console section using the link you provided, just like our own customers, and writing down some things for you. Maybe you'll find it helpful!

  1. The chat application you're using occupies a significant amount of space, around 200+ kb, and being a "js," it slows down the page's full loading speed. If it's not essential, I suggest replacing it with a WhatsApp button that doesn't pull external code. If you don't have such a feature, feel free to message me privately, and I can assist you for free.
  2. Activate the lazy-load feature for images, iframes, and videos. I don't know if it's included in your plan or software.
  3. I see 6 links in the console named ".well-known/shopify/monorail/unstable/produce_batch." Unfortunately, this is a structural issue in Shopify that can occur on some sites. It's bad for both speed and Google. The best option is to open a support ticket for this issue. These 6 links shouldn't be visible in the Google section, as they are related to backend software.

Other than that, expecting top-notch speed from Shopify's shared servers might be a bit challenging.

Hi @Photofund1
You can follow the below steps to improve store speed

- Removed Unused CSS & JS
- Removed Duplicate CSS & JS

- Minified CSS & JS

- Reduced Requests for the website
- Reduced Page Size of the website

- Implement Lazyload functionality for images

Or you can hire a developer to do this for you.

We also provide Shopify speed optimization service, you can check it here: https://www.huptechweb.com/shopify-speed-optimization-service/
Thank you.

If you found this response helpful, please do like and accept the solution. Thanks!
