Fulfilling shopify orders with Aliexpress is pretty straightforward, and can even be automated with Oberlo.

But there are some Alibaba suppliers who dropship, and I wonder what the process is with them.

Does anyone have experience fulfilling individual orders with Alibaba?

Alibaba is a wholesale website.   Are you looking to fulfill orders to individual customers?

Hi @dreamcatcher888! Gabby here from the Community Engagement team at Spocket.

I haven't had much experience with using Alibaba for dropshipping, but have you had the chance to come across Spocket? The order fulfillment process is also automated - it can be done in two clicks, which is explained here: Automated Order Processing

As well, Spocket gives you access to thousands of suppliers who are mainly based in the EU and the US, which means two things - you're provided with products that are only of topnotch quality and can be shipped fast. Items on the platform can be shipped in 1-3 days, 3-5 days, or 4-7 days, depending on your store's set-up. So besides Alibaba, perhaps it's another app you can check out!

You can learn more about the app by visiting Spocket's official website and by joining Spocket's official Facebook group.

Hi,

I have worked as an sales manager and operater on a Alibaba store.

Honestly, dropship orders are not very welcomed by the suppliers on Alibaba site. Check out below Reasons:

  • Different types of business. Unlike Aliexpress, suppliers on Alibaba is more fond of doing custom orders or at least wholesale deals. Dropship business can be few on that site unless if a company want to make a nice looking-datas. For example, you can see the transaction level and amount marked when you are browsing the supplier's site.
  • Inferiority in shipping charges. As mentioned the B2B business are more favored on that site, the shipping company they use are mostly for wholesale business. Like ship 50pcs or 100pcs even 10, 000 pcs by one time. They have advantages in shipping bulk goods via DHL, FedEx, UPS etc. meanwhile they don't have much resources in dropship orders useing E-packet. So if you come to them for dropship orders, the shipping costs are usually not cheap. *Which is depends on the products and the way the suppliers dealing with thier business.

All in all, personally speaking dropship orders from Alibaba is not a good choice, but I would not rule out the possibilities of find some goods suppliers who are into dropship business.

Good luck to your business!

Regards,

Simon

I think https://cbpanda.com/ cross-border panda agency would be a good choice, they can help you change the brand to your brand, and repack. Let me concentrate on running my store

Hi DC,

I realise it's been a while but I just came across your post, so if it's all sorted, please let me know!

I dropship through Ali Baba - yes, individual orders using a Store on Ali Baba - and currently I have to have them imput every order individually, then I have to check the order and make a payment myself. I am trying to set up a file-share spreadsheet for them to be able to access orders and update with tracking etc, but I'm not sure that's possible within China.

I'm also hoping there is a more streamlined way to do business with an Ali Baba Store, but to answer your question, yes, some do do dropshipping, but they seem to be few and far between. Perhaps using another upworking program (fiver etc?) to find an Agent who can tie it all together for you might be an option.

Happy.

When I started my boutique, I had wholesale products on Alibaba, but they had a MOQ limit, which brought me serious capital turnover problems, and later I stopped using them. I am using this  http://bit.do/fQKpE now. They have no minimum order quantity limit, and the quality of the products is very good, and they can also provide customized services, which is very convenient. Maybe you can also try it.

Alibaba.com launched a dropshipping service recently. you can visit dropshipping.alibaba.com to check directly. With wholesale item price but without MOQ limitation.

And they have linked with some Dropshipping service providers like Modalyst, Syncee, etc., Which can help to import products to your store and finish the order fulfillment automatically.

Hope this info will help ; )
