A dropshipping wholesaler NOT on any dropshipping platform...how do I automate order shipping?

AI-generated summary

A Shopify user wanted to automate dropshipping fulfillment with a UK wholesaler that is not connected to any dropshipping platform. The suggested baseline workflow was to agree directly with the supplier on how orders, billing, shipping confirmations, and tracking updates should be exchanged.

Order Automator was proposed as a way to automate supplier email notifications and allow the supplier to submit tracking details through a secure form, which then updates Shopify and triggers customer shipping notifications. When the wholesaler said they required a CSV file containing address, SKU, quantity, and similar fields, the response was that Order Automator may support this depending on required fields and timing, with follow-up recommended through support.

Another app, Feeds Bridge, was also suggested for suppliers using CSV/Excel product feeds and for giving suppliers access to manage fulfillment requests.

Years later, the thread was revived to ask whether a full CSV/Excel-based workflow had been achieved. The latest update confirmed Order Automator still supports similar dropshipping workflows, typically via supplier emails plus tracking submission links or bulk daily updates. No final outcome from the original user was reported.

Hi, I’m new to dropshipping and Shopify. I am trying to find the answer online but struggling. Can anyone be of assistance please?

How do I get the wholesaler to send orders without me having to lift a finger (just trying to be efficient)?

Thank you for any help offered :slightly_smiling_face:

You just communicate with the supplier to agree on a system.

For example, this is a common workflow:

  1. Order comes in your store.

  2. Your staff sends an email to the supplier requesting the products shipped to the customer

  3. Supplier bills you (either before shipping, or once a week, once a month, etc depending on your relationship with them)

  4. When the supplier ships the order, they send the email back to your staff, then they update in Shopify, triggering the shipment notification to the customer.

You can automate step 2 and step 4 with Order Automator.

  • You can create rules with the app to send email notifications for orders that meet certain conditions (like product from Vendor A).

  • There’s an interface for the supplier to add the tracking number remotely, so that it updates in your shop and triggers the customer email notification.

I would start by asking the supplier how they handle order processing with existing clients, and what options you have available, and you can propose the above steps if you think it makes sense for you.

Hi Joe, this explanation is great, thank you :slightly_smiling_face: :+1:

Hi Joe,

I spoke to the wholesaler.

They have a CSV spreadsheet I would need to fill out (address, SKU, quantity etc…)

Would Order Automator be able to email the supplier this CSV filled out from customer’s orders on Shopify?

I think so. Send the details to support@orderautomator.com, and link to this thread and someone from our team will look into this.

I know we’ve done stuff like this before to send csvs, just depends what fields you want, when this gets sent (for example all orders from the past month, from yesterday, etc).

Hi @Obi-Stu ,
@JoesIdeas introduced you quite common order fulfillment flow when supplier don’t have any ability to integrate with Shopify.

What I would like to introduce you is ability to automate and track some of these processes in your usecase.

I am developer of shopify application called Feeds Bridge my app allows shopify store owners to integrate with suppliers which don’t have any direct integration with shopify, but they can provide you a CSV or Excel data feed which can be mapped on feeds bridge and all the products will be created on your shopify store.

Next thing is Orders fulfillment, you can create order fulfillment requests on Feeds Bridge, send notification emails to your supplier so they know that their item has been purchased and you can even grant access to Feeds Bridge so your supplier can fulfill their orders by themselves.

Using such workflow you can reduce workload on your side and move part of it to your supplier, also increase transparency for your supplier, since he will be able to actually see his sold items on the app and not only email which may get lost sometimes.

If you have any questions you can always contact me at dev.feedsbridge@gmail.com

Hey, did you end up trying Order Automator or finding another way to handle this?

I’m researching supplier fulfillment workflows at the moment, particularly where the supplier already works through Excel/CSV rather than using Shopify directly.

Did you manage to automate the process completely, or were there still manual steps between the supplier sending fulfillment/tracking information and it being updated in Shopify?

Whoa 4 year old post resurrected haha nice.

Yes Order Automator handles this workflow for many dropshippers. It’s pretty flexible, the exact solution depends on what you want exactly and how your supplier needs interaction.

Most common workflow: You set up Order Automator to email your supplier when orders with their products come in, then when the supplier ships the order they click a secure link in the email to add tracking to a form (or in bulk daily), then that triggers the order in Shopify to get updated.

If you’d like to explore a solution reach out to support@orderautomator.com you can either setup a quick meeting to dial in the solution or just give the details in email to get steps how to setup.

Hope you have a great week!
