A dropshipping wholesaler NOT on any dropshipping platform...how do I automate order shipping?

Hi, I’m new to dropshipping and Shopify. I am trying to find the answer online but struggling. Can anyone be of assistance please?

Wholesaler (UK) not on any dropshipping platforms

Customers (UK)

How do I get the wholesaler to send orders without me having to lift a finger (just trying to be efficient)?

Thank you for any help offered :slightly_smiling_face:

You just communicate with the supplier to agree on a system.

For example, this is a common workflow:

  1. Order comes in your store.

  2. Your staff sends an email to the supplier requesting the products shipped to the customer

  3. Supplier bills you (either before shipping, or once a week, once a month, etc depending on your relationship with them)

  4. When the supplier ships the order, they send the email back to your staff, then they update in Shopify, triggering the shipment notification to the customer.

You can automate step 2 and step 4 with Order Automator.

  • You can create rules with the app to send email notifications for orders that meet certain conditions (like product from Vendor A).

  • There’s an interface for the supplier to add the tracking number remotely, so that it updates in your shop and triggers the customer email notification.

I would start by asking the supplier how they handle order processing with existing clients, and what options you have available, and you can propose the above steps if you think it makes sense for you.

Hi Joe,

I spoke to the wholesaler.

They have a CSV spreadsheet I would need to fill out (address, SKU, quantity etc…)

Would Order Automator be able to email the supplier this CSV filled out from customer’s orders on Shopify?

I think so. Send the details to support@orderautomator.com, and link to this thread and someone from our team will look into this.

I know we’ve done stuff like this before to send csvs, just depends what fields you want, when this gets sent (for example all orders from the past month, from yesterday, etc).

Hi @Obi-Stu ,
@JoesIdeas introduced you quite common order fulfillment flow when supplier don’t have any ability to integrate with Shopify.

What I would like to introduce you is ability to automate and track some of these processes in your usecase.

I am developer of shopify application called Feeds Bridge my app allows shopify store owners to integrate with suppliers which don’t have any direct integration with shopify, but they can provide you a CSV or Excel data feed which can be mapped on feeds bridge and all the products will be created on your shopify store.

Next thing is Orders fulfillment, you can create order fulfillment requests on Feeds Bridge, send notification emails to your supplier so they know that their item has been purchased and you can even grant access to Feeds Bridge so your supplier can fulfill their orders by themselves.

Using such workflow you can reduce workload on your side and move part of it to your supplier, also increase transparency for your supplier, since he will be able to actually see his sold items on the app and not only email which may get lost sometimes.
