Hey there, have recently launched ekkoandgroove. com All products have 3+ images (usually 5-8 due to colour variants), but on the collections (e.g. on the homepage) some products show only 1 image, some show multiple but not in the order I have selected in Media section of the product page.
e.g. this product shows just 1 image on the homepage (featured) collection, whereas this product shows a random 3
Have tried various settings around 2nd image hover, making sure hide variant media is unticked etc but am at a loose end. Any suggestions please?
Open both product from Shopify Admin Panel and Go to Product Edit Section then check both setting.. You will find something different. Just match one with another.
Since you’re using Savor 4.1.3, I’d also check whether the theme uses a specific media order or only loads images assigned to the selected/default variant on collection cards.
A few things worth checking:
Whether the default variant has media assigned differently between the two products.
Whether the collection card settings are configured to display only the featured image or variant media.
Test the same products on Shopify’s Dawn theme. If they display correctly there, it’s likely a Savor theme-specific behavior rather than a product data issue.
That should help narrow down whether it’s a theme issue or a product configuration issue.
On Savor, a collection card only shows photos that are not attached to a colour. Any photo you have attached to a colour is hidden on the card, except the one for the first colour. That is what makes some cards show a single photo and others show several, in an order that looks random.
Two examples:
Dimitri from Paris: every photo is attached to a colour, so the card shows only 1.
Carl Cox: 2 photos are not attached to any colour, so the card shows those 2 plus the first colour = 3.
Want several photos on the card: in the product’s Media, keep the photos you want on the card not attached to any colour, and drag them into the order you want. The card shows them in that order (featured photo first, then the untied photos in Media order).
Want one clean photo per card: attach one photo to each colour and leave none loose. Every card then shows a single, consistent image.
The “random 3” only happens on products that are a mix, some photos attached and some not. Making each product consistent clears it up.
To detach a photo from a colour: open the product, open that colour variant, and remove its image. Photos left in Media without a colour attached are the ones that show on the card.
