We previously worked with a developer to design our website and they installed a custom font on our website. I want to remove the current font and change it to a different one and I am not very familiar with coding. I have have done some research and followed the steps and everything tells me I need to click “add new asset” in the code but I do not have this button. Can I get some help with this please?
Topic summary
Main issue: The site currently uses a developer-installed custom font. The requester wants to remove it and switch to a different font but isn’t comfortable with coding.
What’s blocking them: After researching and following guides, they’re told to click “Add new asset” in the theme/code editor (used to upload files like fonts), but that button isn’t available to them.
Context: This appears to be a Shopify site (based on the reply referencing Shopify developers and apps).
Advice given: If you’re not familiar with coding, avoid editing theme code because small changes can break other functionality. Instead:
- Consult a Shopify developer for safe font changes.
- Consider third‑party font apps to manage fonts without coding.
Decisions/outcomes: No technical steps or solution were provided in-thread; only caution and alternatives were suggested.
Status: Unresolved/ongoing. Key open question: How to proceed with replacing/removing the font when “Add new asset” isn’t accessible without risking site stability.
Hey @mdeiter
If you’re not familiar with coding then I would highly recommend you to not mess around with code as while you’re trying to change the font, maybe there are chances you’ll end up making some changes which can cause other stuffs to not work so my best recommendation would be to consult with a Shopify developer or you can use third party apps for fonts.
Best,
