Analytics for Returning Customers and Conversion Rates is Not Accurate - 10/26/2022

Topic summary

Multiple Shopify merchants reported missing conversion rate data and customer behavior metrics in their analytics dashboards starting around mid-October 2022.

Key Issues Reported:

  • Conversion rates showing as zero or missing entirely
  • Customer behavior data absent from Live View
  • Conversion summaries missing from order detail pages
  • Add-to-cart (ATC) and purchase statistics not displaying
  • Other metrics (order count, sales value) continued tracking normally

Initial Support Response:
Shopify Support initially attributed the problem to:

  • Customers using private browsing modes
  • Cookie blocking or cleared browser caches
  • Device switching preventing accurate tracking

Merchants disputed this explanation, noting the sudden shift from normal conversion tracking to zero conversions across all orders was inconsistent with typical user behavior patterns.

Resolution:
Shopify Community confirmed this was a platform-wide bug that has been resolved. Users experiencing continued issues were advised to clear their cache and cookies, or contact Shopify Support directly for account-specific assistance.

Since couple of days I have very weird issues in my Admin, where shopify Admin is not showing conversions (Conversion rate in analytics and conversions in Reports / See screenshot 1) as well as customer Behaviors in Live View (see screenshot 2). I am well established in shopify and such have never happened before. It is only that those metrics that are not showing, but everything else such as order count, value…etc are being collected.

I have contacted the support where they are saying its due to external analytics tools such as google analytics.

I have tried to disable my Google tag manager code with no success, but now am left with no solutions whatsoever. If anyone had such issues, please let me know what was the solution. Am open to suggestions.

Hi Everyone,

We have a client who recently migrated from WooCommerce to Shopify and they are getting around 40 orders daily also with the new site. However the Conversion Summary on the order details page is missing. I have never experienced this before. I can still find the UTM parameters when I go to Analytics and look at the sales over time report.

I feel I am missing something here.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks in advance!

Dear all, can somebody help? Since 3 4 days statistics show me no conversion rate, no ATC, no purchases. I load shopify add new again not work also on laptop is the same. Does anyone have this problem too?

Hi, @kurtalmanya

Eunice here from Shopify, thanks for posting! I’d love to help you today.

From the looks of things, you’re experiencing this issue on more than one device, is that right? This might indicate a problem that Shopify Support would need to look into. However, let’s try clearing your device’s cache and cookies to see if that resolves the issue. If you’re not sure how to do that please check out this help document for advice.

If clearing your cache fails to help, please reach out to Shopify Support so we can dig into this a little deeper for you. While we’re not able to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community at this time, we’d love to continue assisting you through live chat, email, or callback.

Hope this helps.

yes i need call back, because this problem is continuing, statistics not work, conversion rate is always zero no figures

Hey There,

I do not think this is the same issue. I have also already contacted
shopify support with no success. I am receiving all values of analytics,
except for Covnersion rate and Active Carts and abandoned check outs int he
live view. So please keep the threats separate as I do not think its the
same issue the one you merged. Btw, I have included photos in my question,
and that shall be enough for you to grasp the issue.

Ive noticed this too.

Since around 18th October not a single sale has a conversion summary.

I have reported it to support and they have come back and told me its because:

  • The customer was using a private browser (to prevent tracking) or an app that prevents the tracking of browser cookies.
  • The customer has cleared their cache and cookies, which will erase all previous browser data used for tracking.
  • They switched devices to prevent accurate cookie tracking.

I dont think this is right though, you dont go from pretty much every order shows conversion details to none at all.
I have asked Shopify Support to look into it more so waiting to hear
