TLDR: Easiest/best way to hide price and Add to Cart on product variants, not the entire product?
I know I’m not the only one running into this problem, I’ve seen others on the web with similar roadblocks. But unfortunately I haven’t been able to find anything after a few days of searching, so here I am.
I have a store almost entirely made up of products with quite a few variants. Some we stock in our warehouse, but some styles we have to custom order. I need to hide the price and the Add to Cart button on only those specific variants, but not have it apply to the entire product. There’s app after app that allows for quote requests, call for price, etc. but every single one of them only affect products at the product level, not the variant level.
So I’m pretty stuck. I’ve installed demos and contacted devs of probably 15 different apps and every single one said the same thing. I can’t launch my new Shopify site until this functionality is in place, and this is one of the last things. If it was possible for variants to have their own tags it would probably be an easy solve, but unfortunately Shopify only allows for tagging at the product level too.
I’m not completely helpless when it comes to code, but json and liquid are relatively foreign to me. But if I need to go in and make tweaks to templates I’m happy to do so. I’ve poked around in there, but my theme files seem just a hair out of my league. Even ChatGPT has availed nothing, and I’ve worked some magic with its help before!
