Any Tool to Scan Items on the online Order for packaging

Topic summary

Main issue: Merchants need a way to efficiently pick and pack long online orders by scanning items (SKU, size, color) from shelves.

Current status: The original poster has not found a solution. Another participant’s existing app, Scan and Ship, stopped loading on two iPads over the past two days, prompting a search for alternatives.

New suggestion: A developer recommends ScanFlow. Key features: scan a single QR code per order via any smartphone; log custom events like “Picked,” “Packed,” and “Ready to Ship”; trigger Shopify Flow automations (e.g., auto-mark orders fulfilled); no extra hardware or complex setup. A screenshot was included.

Considerations: ScanFlow emphasizes order-level scanning and status logging rather than SKU-by-SKU item scanning, which may or may not meet the original need for scanning individual line items.

Outcome: No confirmation that the suggested app solves the issue; discussion remains open with unresolved need for reliable, possibly SKU-level, scanning on mobile devices.

Hi,

When the customers order items online it will be a long list and it is difficult to go through each one (including size, colour etc) and pick from the Shelf for packaging.

I was wondering whether there is any tool using which we can scan the SKU from the Order and pick from the shelf or any other suggestion?

Thanks

Have you found a solution for this? I have been using Scan and Ship, but it wont load in either of our two ipads the last two days – and no solutions seem be be found. Looking for a new app…

Sorry we did not find any solution.

Hi there,

If you didn’t find a suitable solution, you might want to take a look at my new app ScanFlow — it lets your team scan a single QR code to log custom events like “Picked”, “Packed”, or “Ready to Ship”.

It works straight from any smartphone, so your staff can scan orders as they pick them from the shelf, and even trigger Shopify Flow automations (for example, to mark the order as fulfilled).

It’s a simple way to keep picking and packing organized without extra hardware or complex setup.

Hope this is of interest to you! If you have any questions please let me know.
