app to detect the UPC code and gather image from the web and associate with item

I’m looking for an app that can:

  • detect the UPC codes from inventory items (not all of our items use UPC codes, though we are transitioning)
  • do a google image search based on the UPC
  • retrieve the images and associate them to product

Is there an app like this that works well?

We’d like to create an app that will scan UPC/EANs and pull the product data into a Shopify store. (We’ve already developed a similar app for booksellers - ISBNExpress: Books Importer, please take a look at the scanner feature)
