I am wanting to use bulk editor, or something equivalent to easily apply a profit margin to each product in that category. We need to update our item costs for each item, and doing them all one by one is taking too long.
We have the correct price listed on the item, but we need to apply the correct cost, which is simply just a percentage.
For instance, we have several products that we need to apply a 60% profit margin to, the price is already listed, we just want to select all of the products that should be 60% and have shopify auto add the correct cost (if it’s $30 item, update cost to $18; if it’s $40 item, update cost to $24). Currently updating every cost one at a time and it’s taking forever!

My name is Alison, I’m the Customer Success Specialist for Ablestar. I just wanted to reach out and let you know our Bulk Product Editor app is capable of editing both the ‘price’ and the ‘cost’ field in bulk with either an in-app edit, or a spreadsheet edit.
When editing the ‘cost’ field with an in-app edit, you have the option to:
- set as percent of ‘price’ field
- set as percent of ‘compare at price’ field
- decrease by percent
- increase by percent
- set to a fixed value
- set to lowest price from last X days
- change by percentage
When editing the ‘price’ field with an in-app edit, you have the option to:
- set as percent of ‘cost’ field
- set as percent of ‘compare at price’ field
- decrease by percent
- increase by percent
- set to a fixed value
- set to lowest price from last X days
- change by percentage
We have some videos that help explain the process for in-app edits here, and the process for spreadsheet edits here. The app also currently has a free starter version available that allows you to edit 10 products at a time so you can try it our without incurring any costs.
