Automatic Discount With Normal Discount Code

Hello,

I run an automatic discount on my store for 10% off over £100, this discount works fine but this issue is when a customer has a monthly discount code from our marketing emails, they’re unable to apply the discount if the automatic discount has been applied.

I have looked at a few apps but can’t seem to find anything that works without having to use their widget or going to the cart page before the checkout.

Does anyone know a way around this or an app to resolve this issue?

Hi @SGZest

At present, Shopify doesn’t support multiple discounts for one order; only one discount code (automatic or coupon) can be used per order.

So I can suggest you some solutions if you want to offer customers multiple discounts simultaneously.

  1. Offering your customers a gift card with the balance of the discount code you wish to offer them.
  2. Use a third-party app

Stackable discounts are not presently available on Shopify, and only one discount code can be used per order. You can’t also use a “free shipping” coupon. However, I think Shopify has had a lot of people ask for that feature to be added in the future.

So, in the meantime, here’s a promotion idea that will both provide customers with more benefits and increase the reputation of your store: Reward customers with an item when they write a review:

  • Offer a buy-X-get-Y deal in exchange for customer reviews. Incentives like this one encourage customers to leave positive reviews for the product. It’s also a good idea to show your customers how much you appreciate their input.

Ali Reviews app provides 3 types of discounts: % and amount, free shipping, and buy X get Y. Customers get a deal that you set up after they leave a product review. The system will automatically send that deal to them via email.

@SGZest Our Automatic Discounts app can automate the application of discount codes, meaning once applied by our app, the discount codes can be removed or overridden by another discount code manually entered at checkout. Here’s an example below.

You can create an automatic discount in the iCart app and create a discount code in Shopify. Both will work in the cart as the app gives a coupon code box in the cart and the automatic discount applies from the app itself. You can set automatic discounts using the progress bar widget of the app.
